Don't think this has been posted... The Economist had a nice article on tensions in the Eastern Mediterrean (partic between Turkey and Greece, but also where Israel, Egypt and Libya stand on this):

Provides excellent background to the Aegean in Flames DLC, and includes a map which demonstrates some of the complexity in ownership of natural resources in the region:
