From Manual page 264 Ship Damaged-In certain scenarios VPs are awarded for ships that have system damage at the end of the game but are not sunk. The points awarded are equal to the normal VPs for sinking x 1/2 x system damage/100). In scenarios allowing points for ship damage, ships may not be sent home to Japan, Pearl Harbor, or any other off map location. In these scenario the Intel screen with list the total number of ships on each side that are damages and the victory points earned for these ships. A display showing data on ships sunk will appear the the end of a scenario, and points scored from damaged ships in located in the player's Intel screen. -- I am playing a pbem scenario of Guadalcanal. Damaged ships can be sent Japan or Pearl Harbor (depending on side). So it seems there are no points awarded for damaged ships. This affects my repair vs Send to Pearl decisions. But I may be assuming too much. -- As the USN player, I have several capital ships (BB, CA, CL) with significant flotation damage that can be repaired only at the Sydney shipyard. However the bigger the ship, the more time is needed. Given we are half way through the scenario, if a ship will not be repaired in the scenario time remaining AND if not VP are awarded for flotation damage, it is not justified to tie up the limited shipyard capacity to repair the ship, rather just Send to Pearl. Given lack of experience, it takes time and fuel to send capital ships with major damage to Sydney, where upon arrive I can define how long a repair will take. Subs and DDs are quickly repaired, bigger ships and transports, takes a long period. -- The Manual provides no specific information on the Guadalcanal scenario on VP scoring other than the citation stated above. I did a search of the pdf manual for terms 'victory' and 'repair'. -- I will have to do a manual search to determine is supply is consumed for repair.
