I currently have some forces trying to hold Nanning from a determined Japanese assault. These forces performed a shock attack sustaining heavy losses despite being ordered to hold. What's up with that?

Apart from you being absent-minded the most probable cause is some of your reinforcements arriving across some river and uncontrolled hex side and hence autoshocking.

True. I had some reinforcements arrive that turn. That explains it, thanks
