Hay guys

A couple years ago angster built a great script for creating downed pilots when an aircraft was shot down, then they could be picked up be a SAR helo. I believe it was TyphonFR who added a bit allowing boats to do the pick up as well.

I've used copies of that script in several scenarios and it was working fine but lately I'm getting reports that it isn't.

I've fiddled around a bit and probably made it worse so went back to the original script. Also went back to scenarios where it was working perfectly before - but now isn't.

In the attached Zip:

Indian Fury 3 - was working fine a while back but now I can get the create pilot to work but the pickup doesn't
Carib Fury 3 - neither function is working, not sure why

Really not sure if something has changed or if I've messed it up somehow - a very likely possibility.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'll take a look (probably not till tomorrow) at the scenes and scripts and try to see what I can find if anything.

Indian Fury 3 -
The problem is the script fails during the downed pilot reference-point creation silently because the side used is "Marker", later a null ref error is thrown because said reference-points never got created but are assumed to exist.
You have two options, create a side called "Marker" (can probably be blind) if you don't want the ref points to show for NATO, or as I did, simple change "Marker" to "NATO" (or one of the other valid sides) in the 12 places (4 in create function, 4 in pickup function, 4 in the failed pickup fucntion) in the global startup script. It seems to work fine after that (I only tested aircraft).

Carib Fury 3 -
2.5 issues

1 - Simple issue of line of the all scripts action was missing a comment "--" on line #2 where is says amended by TyphoonFr.
1.5 - You have the entire script pasted in there twice one with 'amended for ship support', one amended by above.
I removed the first (upper) copy that looked like didn't have 'ship support', thus leaving the one matching what is used in indian fury 3.
2 - Same issue as Indian Fury3 above, only the non-existing side used instead of "Marker" is "Civilian". I change to "NATO" in the 12 places and seemed to work fine. Again I only tested a aircraft being shot down and the pilot being picked up by a helo flying into the zone.

also attached - .txt version for you that lets you just set the sidename once at the top.

Thanks KnightHawk75

Very much appreciate the help. I've got 4 scenarios waiting for a fix on this so that will definitely help.

Cheers

OK works like a charm for both aircraft and boats.

I'll keep using the 'Marker' side, thanks for the script to change it though. Keeping Marker helps de-clutter the player screen and leave a little uncertainty as to how close they need to navigate to the downed pilot.

Forgetting little things like this is my nemesis… got to keep making scenarios and not dropping the ball for months at a time

Cheers
