Status: offline 		I am an old hand at UV and will soon start a new game. I just finished watching an NZ movie entitled "whale watcher", and one character called the other "old pucker" For all you kiwis out there, what does that mean?

1. I haven't seen whale rider

2. I have never heard pucker used as a form of greeting (or at all for that matter) except by that lunatic cook?: Jamie Oliver

Status: offline 		Everyone go see "Whale Rider" it is great. Might have been "old Pukka" as well. Could be more Maori than NZ slang. Any help out there?

Status: offline 		Pukka is an Indian word which means 'real' or 'excellent quality'. I think it came into usage in English during the age of the British Empire and it's involvement in India.
