In a recent PBEM game of Rising Sun - Nomonhan we hit some errors that crashed the game and we were no longer able to complete our game.

I would double check to see if that bmp file is actually missing? If it is, then copying one of the other bmps and renaming it will solve that issue.

The Failure to stretch bitmap surface warning usually means you've run out of memory, so you need to restart.

Apparently the bmp file was incorrectly named. Changed the name to running3d35.bmp and now it seems to be working fine - The Failure to stretch bitmap surface warning also seems to be fixed with the same change.
