Hi,

Just wondering if this game ever goes on sale on the Matrix/Slitherine websites, or where it would be advertised?

I found out about it just after a June sale after it generated some more awareness and have been looking for it ever since. I've never tried CMANO, but I like the youtube viseos Ive seen and would like to get the game and multiple DLCs....but that is very expensive.

Covid is changing my work practices now so I'm spending less time at home and I fear I'll be back to work with no time to buy and learn this soon.

I have pretty much stopped getting/hiring games on Steam.

Yes, I seem to recall that concept, working at work...

Just buy it from what you have saved by not having to go into work

Pardon the sarcasm, it is a great game, just take the plunge.

Yes, but it is expensive especially with the DLCs (and I am the type to buy multiple), but savings from not going to work go together with less work and less money .... starting to get more work but that also means less free time....

I've also been checking for sales on this nearly every day, but again, the chances I get to check it regularly are dropping and I haven't seen anything since the one sale I saw in June(?) that I missed out on, so does it ever go on sale? Am I wasting my time?

That's a fair comment not having full-time work

I agree that CMO is quite expensive compared to other 'games'. IMO, Tacview is not worth the price if you were thinking about getting it. I bought it, and have used it only a few times for very little benefit.

Also, there are ample scenarios in the free community pack without worrying about the DLC packs, at least in the mid term.

I suggest saving the pennies, as if and when there is a sale, CMO will still be relatively expensive at even a 20% discount.

Not sure if this will help but usually there's a steam sale in the weeks leading up to Xmas

Yes.
Somewhat more rarely than on Steam but it still happens ~once\twice a year or so on the Matrix site side, either game specific or site-wide in the range of 20-25%. Though you missed the big 30% Summer sale event ( http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/fb.asp?m=4834079
). Maybe they'll have a black-friday to cyber monday thing next month though, I'd keep a watch out around that time frame.

I think there is always a Christmas sale on the Matrix site but don't know if CMO will be included.

Thanks, I'll keep watching for a while longer and those are all really helpful posts. I do worry I'll miss it - the Press Releases forum is difficult to read (and hopefully where they'd announce it), the sales don't seem to last long and don't seem to be advertised widely. Hopefully by Christmas I'll have more income but still enough time for the initial learning curve. Steam is cheaper and easier to watch sales, so I'll double check the website about getting the Matrix/Slitherine copy with a Steam purchase (I've read about it before but keep losing track of it).

After a year since release, a Holiday sale for CMO is probably coming. I would be surprised if it did not happen. But that does not mean it's not a great game at its current price. As others have mentioned, potential buyers might want to watch the many youtube videos to see it's the is right game for them. In many ways, getting into CMO becomes a big time commitment to a point that it becomes a lifestyle choice to get the most out of the software. What I like the best is the ability to understand geopolitics on the fly as events take place. Watch the news in the morning and personally design a scenario after dinner. It will take a new player a few weeks to learn the scenario designer ... but well worth the journey to get there.

You can also monitor the WS Twitter account (http://twitter.com/warfaresims ), sales of CMO are almost always announced there.

I will try and check that too, thanks.

Am I right in thinking I can get a steam key from a Matrix website purchase, but not a Matrix download key from a Steam purchase? I'm basing that off the FAQ Forum, Post: "Top: How to Redeem a Steam key"? (I can't post links)

For now I would just get the game, and download the Community Scenario Pack. There are a bunch of good scenarios standard with the game, but adding the FREE community pack gives you another 400+ of a very wide variety of scenarios.

Use all that to figure out what you like and then take a look at DLC purchases. That way you aren't spending boatloads right up front. The game is a little on the pricy side, but I struggle to think of any other game/simulation that has given me so many hours of value and the support by the developers is FAR beyond what anyone would expect.
