Hello

I will apologise in advance for two possibly stupid questions but I hope someone takes pity and can offer some advice!

1. Can a PBEM be run between two players if one has 18.11.26B (Sep 17 2016) and the other has 18.11.26A (Jul 10 2016).

2. Is it possible to run two different versions of WITP:AE on the same laptop? I currently have 18.11.26A (Jul 10 2016). Could I run 18.11.26B (Sep 17 2016) in a separate folder?

I have searched through the forums but I can't find anything to answer this. Doesn't mean it isn't there, just that I can't find it.

Many thanks in advance.

No, don't do it. Use the same version.

1. As Admiral Dadman said, do not do it, it will cause many problems.

2. Yes, just make a separate folder/installation for each game. I have 17 separate installations on my computer.
I have one PBEM game using version 1126a and one PBEM game using 1126b.

Here is a picture of my War in the Pacific Admiral's edition main folder.

+1

Both Players need to run the same version when they play.

You can put as many game installs on your computer as you have hard drive space.

I currently have 4 separate installs on my computer.

You can even play yourself this way in a PBEM game if you just want to practice.

I do it a bit differently. I have one folder on my desktop named WitP AE. Inside are
a number of other folders, one for each installation. Inside each of these folders are
all the shortcuts I need for that game.

2. Is it possible to run two different versions of WITP:AE on the same laptop? I currently have 18.11.26A (Jul 10 2016). Could I run 18.11.26B (Sep 17 2016) in a separate folder?

Beta version goes to subfolder and doesn't change scenario files, so you don't even need another game folder. Just point one shortcut to main folder and the other to Beta subfolder.

example paths:
1. \War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\Beta2\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe
2. \War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe

But you only have one save game folder for two games. Your save files, ops reports, combat report, etc. are all jumbled together. Disk space is cheap, just make separate installs and do not cause yourself so much misery.

Nomad,
well, yes and no... all reports are overwritten anyway, unless you use -archive switch, and even then archived reports are overwritten. One of the reasons tracker is so useful.
I wouldn't like to have a separate install for each game I run, it's enough for me to have it for each different map mod which isn't just graphics.

Of course ymmv.

What makes you think the archive files are overwritten?
This archive folder has 3,234 files in it. That is 6 files for
all 539 turns we have played. I don't think they are
being overwritten.
