Is there a preliminary timeframe for when the next beta will be released?

Is there any word on what might be in the next beta?

Patience guys. We are running into a situation where a fix for one problem seems to create a different problem. Simovich is busting his a$$ trying to get this stuff corrected, so just hang in there for us please.

I am very patient. And there is no rush. It is just that a long campaign is a huge time investment And to fully utilize the changes in a new update one usually has to begin a new game. I am therefore reluctant to begin a new campaign if a new update is fairly close. Then I rather wait. But, on the other hand, if a new update will be a few months then it might be better to get the game going.

Thank you, Simovich, so much for your continued effort to make this a better experience.

Hi All,

Have loaded the latest hotfix/patch 1.06.14 and playing as the Axis I am seeing the same suicidal AI. The first three turns were the best AI moves I've seen in 19 years of playing this game (19 years! playing on and off due to the poor AI as it usually loses around Dec 43 or Jan 44 due to poor score), the AI hit Aircraft factories and components in Holland and Belgium the then hit all the factories around Paris - excellent moves as like most Axis players I abandon France and pull back to a line west of Hamburg running down the Ruhr and Fankfurt. However since then, the last 8 turns, the AI has not attacked anything but Airfields! the Whole 8th AF and all the mediums hit airfields usually out of reach of fighter cover and get - A. massacred, and B. no score. I don't know the fix but if possible airfields should be removed from the tgt list for mediums and heavies to prevent this idiotic behaviour. As well I wish I could remove the score for ending the game as the AI in the 43 Long Campaign seems to have no chance of ever getting past Feb 44. Happy to give more info if required but the AI is not working for a score at all; AI Typhoons should be hitting the ports railroads and small industries in France and low countries -great way to get scoring points. For your consideration.

Cheers,

AKL

I started a new 43 campaign on the German side. Because I only wanted to control Luftflotte Reich, I have set Luftflotte 2 and 3 to computer control to see, what the AI is doing. The defenders are all starting too late to intercept and are attacking the returning bombers. Changing the alert range did not help.

Just to be clear, you increased the alert range and the response was still delayed?. I ask because I used to get it wrong and decreased the alert range hoping for an earlier response. meh, just checkin'.

The 8th will change it's strategy and move to industry by 1944 and you should easily get past the sudden death number. So you are saying that you could care less about getting your airfields shellacked?

Anyway, I'll take a look and see if we can't mix it up a bit.

Yes, they always were too late to stop the bombing raid. Today, I sent the Jg´s to patrol and after the bombers arrived the coast, I switched LF Reich and 3 to computer control. Then the patrols attacked at once.

Hi Simovitch,

Firstly let me thank you and a few of the other old hands for keeping up the outstanding work you are doing on keeping this old jewel of a game going; I have owned it since 2001 when it was first released in Australia. If this is how it is now supposed to work (airfield attacks only) then I will bash on and see what happens. My concern is that this is the first time I have ever played (against the AI) that the only target they are hitting from turn 4 onwards (so far) is airfields; and frankly the airfield attacks are not worrying at all. I keep no more than one Sqn at any airfield and as I keep 90% of them past fighter escort range the AI is losing its bombers at such a rate that I believe that as usual around late Sep/early Oct they will be flying with such depleted and morale poor wings that they will struggle to hit anything. Maybe they will recover a bit over the winter of 43/44 ..... As at 28 Aug 43 I have killed over three hundred B17F's (it may be 400 but I'll have to wait turn end to check). Anyway I will keep going and see if they can actually reach Feb or if the tactics change, happy to keep you advised if it helps you improve this great game. On the plus side I have noticed that the B17's are much harder to hurt and inflict some eye watering casualties on the attackers at times (in this game I have lost more axis aircraft than ever before in air to air combat); spitfires are gods of the sky and near impossible to bounce (when they bounce they will inflict 3-5 KIA on Me109G's, if they are bounced I usually get one KIA or just one damaged, maybe a bit too one sided,); German Wgr air to air rockets are much less effective (seems about historically right now); and in the first three turns the AI was brilliant in its bombing raids hitting all the French and low countries acft and ball bearing industries (then it went to just pure afld strikes ...). Hope this helps and thank you for the work you are doing.

Sincerely,

AKL

AKL your feedback is much appreciated and helpful. This is why we decided to post the beta. I'm working on several AI tweaks as we speak that look promising. Hopefully we can post another beta for playing before Christmas.
