Why are your Nells set to "bombs" at 1000 feet and not "torpedoes?" If they do not have torpedoes, they will use a full bomb load.

I have a new squadron but it's using the Ki-46-KAI Dinah.

it looks like a piece of crap but i did a search and found this from Lowpe:

I had two squadrons of Dinah fighters, I may have grown that to 3 at one point.

They did great service...however, probably not how you are thinking.

As regular fighters they stink. Perhaps that is too kind.

However, they quite possibly have the slowest climb rate of any fighter, and I moved them into 1/3rd splinters, set them at 10K, 10% escort, and night duties.

There, they never closed with enemy night time bombers, but were always present spoiling their aim.

I tried to use them as long range escorts, anti ship, fighter sweeps and the frame really underperformed probably do to the hideously poor accuracy of the cannon.

Thank you Lowpe. I'll try it.

That's a new one for me....using a plane's terrible climb rate to an advantage! Maybe you can put the Ki-10 Perry back into production?

Just the fact that there are fighters present bother the bombers. Pete float planes will also work.

B-29 Navigator to Pilot "On no, I see an enemy fighter, it is trying to attack us!"

Pilot "Oh no, what kind is it?"

Navigator "It is a Pete float plane!"

All Gunners: "Where is it? I want to KILL IT!

4Es can fly even from lvl2 airfield. Just with short range, and reduced bombload. Don't you love that 240% accuracy during port raids?

P-38 have loooong range. And is actually pretty good. Best Allied fighter in 1942.

Crazy accuracy for large bombers on ships like a DD

Re the P-38, i faced them a bit in Burma until i got the Tojo-IIc. after a few painful meetings the P-38s stopped flying.

After receiving the Dinah Kai and the Nick B model recently and being underwhelmed i am looking forward to the B6N2 Jill in a couple of days.

It will carry a torpedo 42% further, 28% faster, while being 37% more manueverable and 4% more durable than the Kate it's replacing. Maybe that will turn the whole tide of the battle?

Are you sure that 10/8 range is 42% further than 9/7 range? Did not check the other maths

Are you sure that 10/8 range is 42% further than 9/7 range? Did not check the other maths

In my game the B6N2 can carry a torpedo 10 hexes, my old Kate can only carry it 7 hexes.

3 extra hexes divided by 7 hexes = 0.428714285714286 i just rounded down to 42.

the B6N1 can only carry it 8 hexes but i skipped that one

Sian is pen territory, it should be easier to capture.

Cut off then capture the far off oil centers in China so it cuts down on Chinese supplies.

N.Pacific(5th Fleet)
My small intelligence gathering TF of 1AV with Jakes and 1E that was between Alaska and the Hawaii was sunk by a small allied TF of 3DDs. Not sure how they zeroed in on them so quickly.

C.Pacific(4th Fleet)
All quiet. Building Forts. Need mines and AVs for Mavis'.

S.Pacific(SE Fleet)
Watching Pago Pago no traffic, Raoul 1 small SC TF, Lord Howe Nothing.

Burma(Southern Army)
quiet

China(Chinese Exp. Army)
Sian - after several days of Bombardments attempted a deliberate attack and got a 2 to 1 with forts reduced to 4.
two days later another attempt was successful as the allies had exited. No damage to facilities.
Kweiyang - bombardments every other day for an attempt soon.

N.Australia(16th Army)
Darwin - continued fort building and airgroup prep.
Daily Waters - was abandoned by the allies so i've decided to occupy?????????????
Tennant Creek - size 4AB now no planes 6 units mostly engineers

NW.Australi(15th Army) WHERE THE ACTION IS!
Broome - Allied subs SS-28 and SS-36 come prowling and manage to get 1 torpedo into an AD. They are both hit with 10 depth charges each. SS Hado and SS O16 are nearby too.
Carnavon - Japanese sub I-162 launches 4 torps at CL Honolulu in a small allied SC TF but all miss.
Exmouth - The next turn I-162 is sighted before she can attack another SC TF headed by the BC Repulse and CLs Hobart and Perth.
Port Hedland - That morning 13 Betties from Broome find a small reinforcement TF and sink an xAK and xAP with torpedoes.
Exmouth - That same morning 7 betties escorted by 26 zeros fought off 6 Martlet and 2 wildcats and sank an AVP and a xAP with torpedoes.
Exmouth - That afternoon a slow CV TF that had been down near Suva arrived apparently undetected the whole way. Despite heavy rain a small group of 9 Kates managed to get 2 torpedoes into the Repulse! They reported her as sunk but i didn't think so.
Exmouth - That night a small japanese SC with 4DDs found the Repulse and finished her off with 8 shell hits and 2 more torpedoes. DD electra was also reported sunk in the encounter but i think it was a different DD.
Port Hedland - The next day in light rain 13 betties from Broome found 3 xAKLs but only managed to sink 1. They returned in the afternoon and sank the other 2.
A pretty good week all in all.

If anybody has a comment about AAR format I could use some constructive criticism. i tried the combat report, the map/combat combo and now the narrative. Any preference?

N.Pacific(5th Fleet)
Another small TF with AV carrying Jakes and 2 SS looking for naval presence near Alaska/Canada
A CA and a DD were spotted by different units but nothing conclusive.
I have an DD ASW TF near Adak that keeps reacting once or twice a turn but not attacking????
My Nells on ASW at Adak get many attacks and some hits but my Vals and Kates never attack. Asw training levels about the same on all pilots?????????????

C.Pacific(4th Fleet)
Still quiet. Building Forts. Mine Layers Arrive and Start Work, ACMs too. Need AVs for Mavis'.

S.Pacific(SE Fleet)
Allied BB TF (3CA,4DD) Bombards Savii, I had seen it coming and removed planes but the AF 50% Dam.
My BB TF (1CL,8DD) Bombards Raoul, 1 SBD Destroyed, many F4Fs, SBDs ,PBYs damage, AF 40% Dam.

Burma(Southern Army)
My BB TF (4CA,4DD) Bombards Chittagong, 1 Lysander des, PBYs Dam, AF 60% Dam
RO-62 outside of Diamond Harbor is hit by 5 Depth Charges from TF led by POW, Haven’t seen her around here before, wonder what they’re up to??

China(Chinese Exp. Army)
Ankang – After capturing Sian we capture lightly defended Ankang perhaps opening a path to Chunking.
Kweiyang – Deliberate attack comes off at 1 to 1 forts reduced to 2. Bombardments to continue until another attempt in a few days.

N.Australia(16th Army)
Darwin, Katherine, Daily Waters - continued fort building and airgroup prep.
Daily Waters - was abandoned by the allies so i've decided to occupy?????????????
Tennant Creek – Size 5AF now?

NW.Australi(15th Army) WHERE THE ACTION IS! STILL! OUCH!
Carnarvon – My BB TF (4DDs) finds 3 AMs and sinks 3
Near Perth – Kates and Zeros from Slow CV TF find 2 small Aks and sinks them with Torps
Exmouth – My FT TF lands a regiment but and APD is sunk by a SS Torpedo and a SC from a ASW TF eats another torpedo form a different SS.
Broome – F4F sweeps from Curruna Downs, P-38s from Meekathara make mincemeat of my A6M2/Nick CAP. 100 + HEAVYS decimate Broome AF and planes. Brutal. It’s no fun playing around in range of the heavies. I don’t really know how many they have at this point. Burma has been quiet. Did the manage to move some from Burma??? I’m not really sure??
Tojo IIcs and more nicks are arriving now. Along with lots of AA. Which was totally missing before.

If anybody has a comment about AAR format I could use some constructive criticism. i tried the combat report, the map/combat combo and now the narrative. Any preference?

This is better than scrolling though combat reports.

Some important combat reports are fine, editing them to remove the bombers dropping bombs are a certain height is better. Changing colors to highlight things is also useful.

Pictures let you say a lot of things with few words. Like taking a screenshot of China, Burma, or whatever - where the place called "whatever" is, I don't know. . Then describe what you have, your plans, and then ask for comments and suggestions. That will also help improve your play.

I think i win the prize for the most wasted supplies, most expansion in the south pacific, most wasteful build up of bases and forts in the pacific in general, and the worst management of the japanese production system. But at least I've sunk a lot of warships without losing a whole bunch of my own.

Looking good Yamaguchi. Can you post a picture of your industry screen? You seem to be producing a lot of aircraft judging from overall losses + sorties.

Ok DesertWolf101, but it's kind of embarrasing.

i forgot some other prizes i might claim

Slowest start in China, Biggest waste of Recon and Float Planes, perhaps most ill conceived and executed invasions of Australia? Poorest emptying of Palembang and other oil centers?
