Game ended:

Fafnir (Axis) vs. EarlyDoors (Allies).

Axis decisive victory in July 42.
Just in time for summer vacation for the Wehrmacht and the Imperial Japanese Army.

Game ended, TAIFUN won.

ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs TAIFUN (Allies).

Got overextended in Egypt, caused for a lame Barby. Russians held positions, Germans were taking on everyone. The Greeks caused me to resign, after they joined and took Bulgaria. Japs vs Yanks was an exciting battle. Since Germany was bogged down with no momentum, had no choice but to mix it up. He wiped most my carriers, but I took some capital ships with me. Taifun had Royal Navy juiced up + RN Carriers in Pacific.

Looking for Rematch, will have to take this guy more seriously.

Many thanks for the game Sir!! A tough fight indeed! After the fall of France 2 German panzerkorps, plus several motorized infantry including an Army made an appearance in Egypt after capturing Malta. Held the line Alexandria-Cairo for many months but eventually run out of defending units and made a gradual withdrawal towards Baghdad fall 1941. By that time the Germans had attacked Russia but did not get very far inland. The loss of many MPPs in France and the Middle East dispersion deprived the East front of many attacking units. In the North after bypassing Kaunas they were counterattacked and pushed back to the Polish border. For the rest of the game the Russians held the Kaunas-Wilno area bitterly, those cities changing hands several times. In the South, with no tank support all they got was Kiev and Odessa. The Russians were able to send a General and 5 valuable units to help defend Baghdad until the arrival of more Allied units, but I found that Iraq was not supporting the Russians and they were almost out of supply.
In China the Japanese were stalled before Sian, Chungking and Kweichow. They could not take Rangoon. A huge naval battle raged in the Pacific for several turns starting September 1942. Near Truk the 7 Allied carriers (3 UK) tangled with the whole Imperial Navy and managed to sink 3 CVs and 3 CVLs without losing single carrier... the fight was fierce and many BBs and CAs were destroyed. End of 1942 the Axis surrendered. A very enjoyable game with great veteran

Bottom line on my game against, Taifan: I could have continued, what year was it? Early January 1943, I think. But the Germans were toast. I went nuts in the MedFront, took Malta, tried to sew in Spain, but I was too weak. The Egyptian task force got scattered in Jordan. I put too much into Egypt. I was wondering where the Royal Navy was, Taifun brought them to Pacific, nice work. My Japan attack was in desperation, my units were not really ready for attack in Pacific, had to do anything to help Germany. What caused me to lose? Last couple of games I've been losing Italy, so I get tired of that, I go nuts in MedFront. Malta was taken, then drove to Egypt. *Key, I should have stopped, and not gone into the Promised Land. Yanks Airpower was waiting, like Desert Storm I. Yankee bombers flattened all supply. 4 fighters against 1 Red Baron was just too much. Got peppered. If I would have chilled, and stayed in Egypt. Luftwaffen were not coordinated after poundings of Malta. Stupid, I left Greece alone, and they ended up snagging Bulgaria.

Battle in Pacific was just getting good, always is. American Carriers stung 3 of mine, sunk. I had 6? I got Enterprise down strength 1, I think, then it escaped. Love the Pacfic fights. Japs were forced to the action, since Germany dropped the ball.

Russian was equal and actually stronger is why I surrendered early.

Greece open huge door. Bulgarians gone, nice easy window for Yanks in 1943. Those Russians stung my ass, hard. Nice work waxing Panzers in Riga. Luftwaffen didn't do sh-t.

Taifoo outplayed me in Riga. He used a key city location for an Army, then punched my Panzers and hid. Nice work, dude.

I do think he enjoyed playing, because I will get it. I typically snap, and attack once triggered. Not always good, but at least some action.

New dance partner, since we both finished the last dance.

I was the one who taught her to kiss
The way that she kisses you now.
And you know the way she touches your cheek,
Well, I taught her how.
I was the one who taught her to cry
When she wants you under her spell.
The sight of her tears drives you out of your mind,
I taught her so well.

So, I figured something out, Early Doors is not Jim Morrison, it's an English TV show. Was looking for music and figured this out. It's some type of English show. English as in England, not American, it's like Cheers.

Ha, well i suppose the title of the sitcom has the same meaning but for me its taken from 1970s Football ( soccer...ahem) quotes that basically means 'do it early'

The use of this phrase, as in “they'll be looking to grab a goal early doors”, was a favourite of linguistically creative pundit Ron Atkinson. However, its origin long predates Big Ron. At popular Victorian theatres, 'early doors' were special entrances at which patrons could pay extra to avoid the subsequent crush.

3 in fact! But the fact they were all against Taifun means that your rating has fallen by 36.3 points, not the 48 points it would have done against evenly-matched players.

No only two. First he beat my allies, then my axis. The weight of his gameplay surely felt like 3 beatings, but mathematically we played two games. Sure Taifun can confirm this :)

I do confirm that calcwerc and I we only played 2 games. So I checked and I should have 5 games in the spreadsheet.

Fixed now! Apologies - and if anyone notices mistakes like this do point them out, it is easy to make mistakes when transcribing results from the forums into Excel.

Game ended: pjg100 (Axis), Lonerunner (Allies). Axis won; Allies resigned late 1942.

This was a good, well-fought game. The balance tipped when the Axis captured Leningrad and Belomorsk nearly simultaneously, leading to a collapse in the RU northern defenses and pocketing of several RU defenders with low or no supply. Unusually good weather in the spring of 1942 also helped immensely (unless your name was Ivan); GE was able to keep the pressure on nearly continuously from 6/1941 to the end. GE took Moscow, Stalingrad and Kuybyshev in 1942. JA had to attack in October 1941 in bad weather due to high US mobilization, and was playing catch-up for much of 1942. JA captured Chungking in 1941 and was on track to take Lanchow in late 1942. There was an epic fleet battle near Midway in late 1942, which was costly for the Imperial Navy but overall went better for JA than did the original.
