You can use Steam to check the validity of game files.

Hello Roger,

nice that you keep this mod active.

Now I downloaded the new version because I have a problem that must have something to do with your gravity well settings.

I have a constructor that is going to fly outside the gravity well, but the planet is easier to reach when he would fly directly to it.
It is easy to see, because the way to the outside of the well is much longer than the direct line from the ship to the planet.

What could have happened? Do you need my savegame?

P.S.: ANother questions using your mod is, what is this supposed to say:

Grav well pathing is an issue with ships. It's why I can't play with them on.

2nd thing I have no idea.

If you run the game now then you don't. You need 1.81r bacon if you run windows 10 2004 version or later.

That detailed mission info, accessed with alt-enter, is for my debugging purposes. It was not an officially released key shortcut. You must have found it by using alt-enter instead of ctrl-enter. It shoes each individual step of a mission along with the coordinates if any. The -2e+09 are default location (X,Y) for mission steps that don't have an (X,Y) location associated with them, such as load and refuel.

Since this was an internal debugging thing it will probably work on enemy ships to. If so, you can consider it a cheat feature.

and it is really good to know, right now, I do not see this as a cheat.
anyway, its very useful because double clicking on a ship and then going to the cargo hold is kind of a lot clicking. also pressing F11 and then going again to "selected ship" is also not very user friendly.

it would come in handy, if pressing "esc" would close any window instead of popping on/off the option window.. i will never get used to it..

anyway...
i changed a bit the hyperdrive threshhold but for my construction ships, the gravity well is huuuuge.... and maybe the calculation of when to go out of the gravity well to jump then to an object is miscalculated by not regardign the mass of the ship correct?
if i find out why, I will let you know. it would be so great if this works, I never had the problem before..

P.S.:
I set the threshold to: HyperJumpThreshhold=15000
this way they do not fly out to jump closer.

Yeah, that's ctrl-enter. The detailed steps you showed is ALT-Enter, which I used for trying to figure out why shome ships were doing weird things.

Hi, it seems the link to the alternative bacon exe (for the 2004 windows version) doesn't work anymore.
Unfortunately my bacon mod doesn't either after my windows updated..

Any help would be appreciated!

Is it possible that I set this part of this mod myself?

hi,

ver 1.81 doesnt want to start game, probably exe, but dropbox with exe file for 2004 is unavailable so i cant fix it

update: task manager is showing game exe to be running but game doesnt start, no loading window etc.

I don't have the files per se. When the Bacon mod first came out Larry adapted the excellent Extended mod for use in the Bacon mod but I don't think the files have been updated since then. I worked on getting the RetreatUE mod up for the bacon mod which includes the Extended mod but adds in a number of other mods as well. I spoke to Larry at the time to get some tips on what needed to be looked at but in the end there were many files that needed correcting. If you want the races from the Extended mod then you will find them in the RetreatUE mod adaptation from here...

No. Ask Roger. It's his file. I run this exe. Everyone runs this exe.

The exe is modified so it gets flagged by the AV.

If you're worried, don't run it.

Latisrof,

With the screenshot you have 63 different antivirus software products listed there and of them, only 3 said the Bacon Mod was a trojan. That meant 60 antivirus engines said there was no problem with the bacon mod.

Months ago I personally sent the bacon mod executable to Microsoft themselves who confirmed the bacon mod file was no virus or trojan and updated their antivirus software to reflect that.

However if you have doubts you do not need to run the bacon mod as Retreat1970 suggested.

I can't get the latest bacon mod release to run correctly; Update 2020-10-13, whenever I run it, a popup of the program just says "Bacon mod by roger bacon: OK button.

I click OK, and Distant Worlds (32bit) just stays idling in the background processes of task manager, never coming to the foreground...

P.S. I want to use the EXE for the 2004 update with this link https://www.dropbox.com/s/zhoru5ui85g8uhx/DistantWorlds.exe?dl=0 but that link is a 404 for me

P.S.S

So after reading around, it seems I am an unlucky SOB for having a version of windows that this mod wont' work on -_________-

I'm trying to follow Dastactics guide on installing all 3 mods together, including this one.

I don't get it, it says in the description that the stars gravity well only affects ships jumping OUT of a gravity well, but in my game all my hyperjumps are being denied, both those trying to get into my solar system, and those trying to get out. I thought this setting only affected ships trying to get out?

A ship in a gravity well can not initiate a hyperjump. Ships outside can jump normally. If they sublight into the gravity well before their jump warmup phase is complete they will not be able to jump.

Hi folks, I've just installed this mod alongside RetreatUE for the first time...I've been missing out! Thanks Roger and Retreat :)

One issue I'm having though is that in my new game in the ship design screen I don't have an option to build frigates. It's not even in the drop down menu for choosing a ship role when starting a new design from scratch. I've had a look around the forum but haven't seen this as an issue elsewhere. Can anyone help?

Hello, really great mod I like a lot about it. But I wanted to try my hand at making my own edits to the game just for personal use. I was wondering how did you make it so the arrow keys in the component screen worked on the selected installed module rather than the one selected in the list of all modules? This may be the single greatest feature of this mod.
