So now that WitE2 is officially a thing, any word on whether there will be a nice hard cover manual available to match with my WitW version?

We are planning a hardcover manual like the WITW manual. However, it's too early to be able to speak in any more detail about its final form, page count/size, etc. We should know more about that in January.

Oh man, oh man, oh man, I am eagerly awaiting this release! The pictures on your store page are real teasers. I've just recently gone back to WiTE and WiTW, and loving them more than ever. I bought the hardcopy of WiTW and the manual is amazing. Strong binding, strong thick pages, in beautiful color, great fonts, just perfect. Even though they are printed in a country I'm not fond of, the printed manuals now are excellent! WiF manuals are collectors items for me. You guys have gone the extra mile with the hard copy manuals now. I NEVER pre-order games, but I sure would this one. Thanks Erik!

WitW manual is right at 300 pages. My guess is this manual will be bigger.

Personally I think a hardcover manual is a bad idea. Too many tweaks and rules changes will quickly make a hardcover manual obsolete. It's not like the old days when a game released with a good manual and maybe one or two patches to fix bugs. Most times games like WITE end up being works in progress.

I bought the hardcover 3 set of books for World in Flames. Some of the rules listed in those books aren't even going to be implemented. It's possible that other rules or systems changed from the way they were described in the books. Hardcover manuals aren't a good idea anymore. Not when I have to get on a forum or download a digital version of the same manual to get the latest rules changes.

Yes I can understand that hardcover manual is alright for the core fans.
But for balance changes or new features. A wiki is much more useful and easy to modify.
I believe it is much more intuitive for new fans -such as myself- to read pages of a wiki document

Going by WiTW I'd suggest that the initial manual retains value after some rule changes. It is unlikely that massive system changes will occur and the mix of text and images can really be useful. The 'Living Manual' then captures any relevant patch notes.

I agree that WiTE1 is now a long way from the release design but there are a number of reasons for that but WiTW has mostly been a case of refinments and balancing?

I would agree with this. I also think that WITE2 will need fewer big patches. They will be able to incorporate everything the have learned over the last 10 years into this game and hopefully have a very refined product at release.
