There will still be issues that arise

If you're like every other person ever that had their house built, you can take this too the bank, my friend. Patience.

Houses, living space, whatever. owned something since I was was 22. The condo was low maintenance, the brownstone and converted barn had/have minds of their own. Every time we open a wall in the barn we find something 'interesting'.

Off to Ireland Monday to visit Mom and try to avoid snow. I don't mind snow and it normally does not snow in Ireland, but this year, who knows.....

A hammer fixes about 90% of issues that arise. Then come the screwdrivers.

Did partial renos in three houses I owned after military transfers. No problems with framing, insulation, drywalling, roofing, flooring, electrical (except connection to the panel), lighting, suspended ceilings, wall paneling, painting, etc. But plumbing ... *!&&//☻

I am comfy with everything except serious electrical or plumbing. basic is fine. When I was a young one I tried to swap out a light fixture in my sister's room. The house was still on fuses, not circuit breakers. I THOUGHT I had killed the power but went flying when the screwdriver touched the wire. Ever since it has been my policy to kill the whole house before approaching the juice. The other oddness is that our back-up generator seems to carry the whole house even though it theoretically has a dedicated panel. EC cannot figure it out so I am not even going to try.

Old houses.....

Reno's

Just finished "partial basement finish" 50% and within budget; but the next half requires a bathroom / bedroom for guests.

I do not mind the framing at all - did and done ! I will even pull the wire through the walls and set up the plug in boxes but always let a qualified electrician hook it up and sign off. I also concur on plumbing especially as I only have rough in at the current time.

Drywall, mudding taping. Ughh...

I have done enough renovations I will always pay a guy to hang the drywall, mud, tape and finish.

I will buy it - and his supplies. I will stage it right where he wants it.

My previous experience is that if "I" do it : (i) I waste 20% board with poor cuts and fitting (ii) I way over mud and spend weeks sanding trying to be a perfectionist (iii) my corners are never as good (iv) it takes me weeks and weeks. Have to buy multiple furnace filters to ensure I don't clog up and damage the HVAC.

Pay a good guy and its done in a week and looks beautiful. Waste board ends and dust minimal....

Its a real talent

Got out to the car this morning, and was greeted by a flat tire.

Grump.

What did the tire say?

"Have a nice day?"

It was probably only flat at the bottom, you could have rotated your tire so the flat part would be on top and you would have been fine to drive.

I was going to send him to a plastic surgeon to get an implant to get the tire to a nice pleasing roundness.

Yes. That was pretty much what the tire said. It was clearly mocking me. Grump.

Grump.

The local health care system that I use has an internet site that you can log in and check on things. Now they put something in that states you have to get a code from your e-mail that you have to click on something to get, type or copy and post the code in, then continue on to your records, messages, and such. It states that it is only a one time thing. But NO! You have to do this EVERY time! I called the help number and a man kept stating that HE can change it here. He did not so I told him that I will not use the system again. Since I was already logged in, I informed my local provider about this and informed her that I will not use the app again because I do not need the added aggravation.

GRUMP!

Every time? I guess that they would rather have to snail mail printed letters and lab results. After all, that would be cheaper than having people look it up online, would it not?

Reduce, reuse, recycle. Why do people keep putting items that aren't recycled locally into the recycling bin? It turns the entire load into garbage as they don't pick out those items.

Speaking of that, reusing bottles should be a good idea. But do you think that the local Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) would appreciate my reusing efforts if I took the label off a whisky bottle, then put tea into it so I could drink it later? Especially if I was in the drivers seat? For some reason,I don't think so!

Even just plain water in a vodka bottle after removing the label. Or using a peppermint schnapps bottle for water with a little peppermint flavoring to help settle the stomach?

Grump!

I drop two cats off at the vet in one pet carrier. He really does not like the bus ride and complains. Then I leave them at the vet. This is for a wellness checkup and shots. She lives up to her name "Sweet Pea" so no problem. Harry did not like the ride, apparently did not like what a stranger did to his sister. He decided to hiss and scratch at the Vet Tech. I have to educate him not to do that to pretty, young blonde females. Not that he should do that to ugly, old redheads either. But I gave permission to sedate him. I should have suggest a nice piece of wood upside the head. It cost $50 for that and then another $10 for a cardboard pet carrier for her.

Grump!

No problems because it is kind of funny, but an expense that I did not need!

You smooth devil, you!

The family that adopted me as a Grandpa had a brother relation with a farm where he raised large dogs along with horses. He gave my adoptive family a puppy - a Bull Mastiff puppy! Said puppy grew rapidly and cost muchos dineros for shots etc. from the vet. The kids in the family were in the range of about 5 years to 9 years so naturally they ran around making noise, chasing each other, etc. The dog was overprotective and got upset when this went on but if they were outside he just approached the kids and pushed at them to show his concern.

One day the dog was inside the house while the kids were playing outside and started wrestling on the lawn. The dog was looking through the glass outer door and got so worked up he charged through the glass to get to the kids. Naturally he got cut badly in several places. Off to the vet where the dog got into the waiting room and decided to shake off the blood on his head and body, splattering the entire waiting room and other customers!
Between the vet bill and new door that little episode rang up $800+ dollars in bills. Not sure if any of the customers dared ask the woman with this giant dog to pay for their blood spattered clothing!

Sadly the overprotectiveness began to extend to attacking other dogs while walking by on a leash. No one could hold back this Bull Mastiff - he would just drag them while the owners of the other dog ran for their lives. They had to put the dog down before he bit someone or their dog.

Depends on the day. Today the sun is shining, temperature near 0º - people have ventured out of lockdown to walk/skate/ski on the river ice below. I'm out of the grumpy stakes today. (I suppose I could be grumpy about that ...)

GRUMP!

Neither of you are grumpy enough!

Wait and see if you get a very nice late winter storm south of you, dumping meters of snow, staying cold until it gets abnormally warm, then that snow melts fast and runs downhill - to YOU!

Then I am sure that you will be GRUMPY! but even VERY GRUMPY!

GRUMP!
