When editing sensors for a platform, does it make any difference whether to add a Sensor Group versus adding all sensors individually?

In my experience it makes no difference long as what you want\need is actually added

Looking at my SBR log file, I think there is some difference when working with INI. For one of my alternate history scenarios I got this:

WARNING: Sensor STIR 240 [Radar] to be added to unit Triagion (DDG 993 Kidd [960]) belongs to a Sensor Group. The SBR cannot handle sensor groups and the sensor itself has been added to the INI file. Please change the sensor to the corresponding sensor group in the INI file manually.
WARNING: Sensor STIR 240 [TV Camera] to be added to unit Triagion (DDG 993 Kidd [960]) belongs to a Sensor Group. The SBR cannot handle sensor groups and the sensor itself has been added to the INI file. Please change the sensor to the corresponding sensor group in the INI file manually.
WARNING: Sensor STIR 240 [IR Camera] to be added to unit Triagion (DDG 993 Kidd [960]) belongs to a Sensor Group. The SBR cannot handle sensor groups and the sensor itself has been added to the INI file. Please change the sensor to the corresponding sensor group in the INI file manually.

Which I don't really understand. It says the SBR can't handle sensor groups, but also that I should replace the discrete sensors with a sensor group?

Yup you will get those, and I've ignored those warning for 2 years or more now without issues, frankly I recommend you do the same. ;)
