Submitted most recent file is in the Community Scenarios Folder now To Kill the Queen, 2022 Al “Beirutdude” Sandrik The Time Is: 15 April, 2022, 22:00 Zulu/06:00 Okinawa Time First Island Chain/Ryukyu/Daito Islands Playable as PRC/PLAN/PLAAF Only 24 Hours Duration Background: Ten days ago, PLAN Marines landed on the Senkaku and Yaeyama Islands (The remotest part of Japan, and the last of the Ryukyu Islands near Taiwan). The rational was to deny the USN and JMSDF antisubmarine bases to interdict PLAN submarines from transiting into the Pacific through the First Island Chain. This was necessary as a prelude to isolating and invading the lost providence of Taiwan. The recently established Japanese garrison on Yonaguni Island put up a stubborn defense allowing time for USAF and JASDF squadrons from Okinawa to intervene. Subsequently, massive PLA Rocket Force barrages and persistent PLAAF airstrikes, with cratering munitions, have heavily damaged the three airbases on Okinawa leading to the withdrawal of the remaining U.S. and Japanese squadrons and isolation of the island from resupply. U.S. Marines and Japanese Ground Self Defense Forces are digging in for combined PRC airborne and amphibious assault on the island. To stiffen the defense Carrier Strike Group - Five has been dispatched to provide air support to the defenders. Realizing the CSG would likely be fighting for its life, the ships were heavily armed with every available ABM SAM in the Pacific Fleet’s inventory. The USS Ronald Reagan is the “High Value Unit” (HVU) and the “Queen” on the chessboard She is defended by an Inner Ring of Ticonderoga and Arleigh Burke Class Aegis missile CRUisers and DEStroyers (CRUDES) withing 15 nm. This includes a brand-new Australian destroyer. An outer ring of three (3) CRUDES is present 15 to 25 nm from the HVU to provide ASW and AAW support along the “Threat Axis” and a distant “Picket” of one JMSDF Aegis Destroyer and a Los Angles Class submarine provides distant support and some additional radar coverage. Mission: As the Combined Forces Commanding Officer for the PLAN/AF/Rocket Forces in the East Fleet Area of Responsibility (AOR), you are tasked with destroying the USS Ronald Reagan. Your sole mission is to “Kill the Queen” to clear the way for the invasion of Okinawa. Notes: First, you must run the scenario for 15 seconds before you do anything else. Why? To give the scenario replay value all vessels teleport. To keep the Inner, outer and picket areas in their proper orientation and vessels in their assigned Operation Areas (OPAREAS) relative to the HVU/carrier it necessitated multiple teleport events. Trust me it works! After 15 seconds feel free to delete the highlighted Reference Points, they are not needed after that time. Second, as of November, 2020 the combined PLAN/AF H-6 Inventory (of all variants) is estimated to be 231 aircraft, about 2/3s of them appear in this scenario (with a 20-30 percent maintenance downtime for each squadron). So, it may appear that there are a LOT of H-6s, well the PRC is building them like mad. Next, you don’t get to play the U.S. side as I wanted to look at attacking an USN CSG with the three defensive zones, can you penetrate the carrier’s screen? Finally, unlike many of my scenarios, you don’t get points for every unit destroyed. The world is at war and the two Titans of the Pacific are facing off, lots of people are going to die, whether the public likes it or not! In this case, you only get points for damaging and/or destroying the HVU/carrier. The more damage you inflict on the USS Reagan the more points you gain. Scoring 0 points = Disaster and 6,000 a Triumph .INI and Delta Files are provided for deep rebuilds. Al “BeirutDude” Sandrik (ex-Beachinnole) Al.Sandrik@gmail.com
