In trying to download my PBEM multi-player turn of S. Command World at War from the server (I am playing only one game which is against kidegan challenge ID 16723) I get as far as "unpacking" and then get an error message: "Could not locate 17110.dat"
I just downloaded and applied the latest patch version 109.00 and I I'm running Windows 10. Please advise, thank you.

UPDATE: I see the instructions from Hubert on how to fix this, but I only get as far as my user name and then it seems to no longer match the instructions given by Hubert. I don't play SC on Steam, so this may be a problem related to the latest update?

Sorry to hear about the trouble.

Here is the missing DAT file, please download it from this link:
https://we.tl/t-C414yiR8a7

Place it in your hidden PBEM data folder typically found here and this should resolve the issue for you:
\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - World at War\PBEM++\<matrixUsername>

Note this folder may be hidden on your system. Additionally, please replace <username> with your username on your computer and then the <matrixUsername> with your matrix user name.

You might have to manually type in the path to get to the AppData folder as this is the hidden folder. After that you should be able to navigate the rest.

Let me know if you still need help after this,
Hubert

Hubert,

I have turned on viewing hidden files, but that didn't seem to do much. I did manually type in the hidden address you provided, then attempted to copy paste the .dat file onto that address, I think that worked but unsure as this type of action is rapidly exceeding my limited computer skills. I then retried the game but I'm still getting the same error message. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, just not sure what.

Hi Dtatum,

Sorry to hear about the continued trouble, the path should look something like this:

\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - World at War\PBEM++\dtatum

Just your <username> would have to be replaced with your PC username.

If you copy/paste the file to that folder it should do the job for you. If it still doesn't work, let me know.

Hubert

Ok, now the 17110.dat file is the only file in the last folder in the chain, but the error message is still asking for it.
