I just won a Decisive Victory in the Carre d'As scenario of SP:WAW, and I'm feelin' pretty good about it - I know it might not be a huge accomplishment for many of you, but I'm (re)new to SP, so this was a nice win... A little background: I was a huge SP ver. 1 fan, and even subscribed to the scenario service/newsletter that they were putting out for a while (I think Wild Bill had something to do with that, iirc), but after a couple of years I retired my wargaming for raising kids and pushing the career forward a bit... I was feeling the need to get back into a decent WWII tactical game recently and went looking for my old copy of SP, but was disappointed to find I couldn't rig it to run in Win2K on my machine despite some tweaking, so I thought I'd dig around for something similar, but more contemporary. A little 'Net research and - to my astonishment and delight - I find SPWAW, and it FREE! Woo Hoo! I've been playing it whenever I can find a free hour or two since last Wed, and now leading the French in a serious butt-kicking of Rommell's Panzers (and this after knocking the tracks off two of my B1s breaching hedgerows before even spotting the enemy), I feel like I'm back in spades :D If anyone's interested, the scenario stats ended like this: French Losses: 18 Men, 3 Soft Vehicles, 1 AFV German Losses: 119 Men, 19 AFVs Score : French 4159 Decisive Victory :D Germany 257 Crushing Defeat Man, I really enjoy this game. A hearty thanks to all of you that frequent this board who have had a hand in its development and expansion. Great work!
