Good morning - I'm not sure how to accurately describe this.

A carrier strike group is attacked by Khinzal ballistic missiles. The missiles are initially detected by a Cobra Dane radar on Shemya Island. The CSG fires SAMs at the incoming ASBMs. The ASBMs pass into a null in the radar coverage of the Cobra Dane and the BMEWS radar at Clear Air Force Station and contact is lost. After 5 minutes the ASBM contacts disappear. At that point the SAMs turn 90 degrees and start wandering off towards the South Pacific.

A few minutes later, the incoming ASBMs are detected again. The SAMs (which by now are a few hundred miles to the south of the ASBMs) immediately do a 180 degree turn and make tracks to engage.
