I mean really axis have no chances against Soviets in Wite1 lets be clear. In good hands and having about 700 tanks production already in 1942 what axis can even do against them. Probably only limited truck pool saves axis from sucking balls already in 1942. And almost unlimited production of planes as final punch in nazy hobo face. And actually everything other as well....

But equally there will be players complaining about the Axis being OP.

How can you stop the uber Panzers surrounding and isolating all our army.

Personally I do not take a view other than by observing that players regularly win on both sides. But look back on the history of these forums and you will find many many balance discussions or arguments by people completely convinced one side is OP and not just referring to Axis or Soviets.

Very easy with cavalary corps with 11k aviation with infinity amount of tanks. Most of the players for soviets are very passive and just watching how their armies get in pockets.Btw Leningrad and Moscow possible to hold if you have stragety.

The thing you will find is that the German players skill in playing mainly 1941 determines most of the game.

If the German player is good/knows how to keep the panzers supplied and swapped via build ups the Germans can basically win the game in 1941...it was pretty much a given until the most recent patch.

Verdict is still out on the most recent patch...the air war is a mess and rail capacity for supply past 1941 on the soviet side may need fixes...but it seems the ground war may have finally been brought into some balance from what I am hearing.

The game in 1941 is really about the German player having the skill to manage fuel supplies and keep pressure up on the Soviet player all along the front. Thats the difference in skill of most German players, the full front pressure means the soviet player never has enough troops to stop key German pressure everywhere or even in the key spots if German forces are used correctly. In 1941 and even 1942 the German player can take any hex they want, the soviet player can only delay and buy time for the soviet army to build up...its why the game is really all on the German players skill in 1941 for the most part.

Yes the Soviet player can make some force movements and manage their army...but in General the first 4-5 turns the German player completely owns the battlespace as long they did the good T1 pockets and a the big super lvov type pocket in the south. Its why the game is usually more the German players to lose rather than the soviet players to win. Also cav corps an such dont matter really until the first winter...if the German player did their job right the Soviet player goes into the first winter still extremely crippled army strength wise.

Also you talk about air power---air power is a mess right now, so when it gets fixed dont expect much of the soviet air force until late 1942 or so.

why is air power a mess
this freakin game has been out for over a decade
it takes these guys a decade to fix the air war
or maybe they have been too busy selling new versions of a broken game

It's because the game has gone through countless iterations. It wasn't as much fixed as constantly developed...

Because WitE is a history simulator. As AXIS u have the chance to win until late 1942. But If u are not able to destroy many sovjets or take the big city quickly u can not win.

So the game culmination is: Can Axis defend Berlin until Mid 1945?

You might want to try out one of the scenarios of the 'Lost Battles' expansion which has the 'sudden death' option and thus gives you at least a chance to win. Although a soviet surrender in 1942, 1943 or 1944 is rather unlikely (and a horrible possibility), it is in my opinion not completely unrealistic given the losses of men and territory of the soviets would have been large enough. It is still pretty hard, though.
