Hi

Doing something wrong I'm sure, but I can't seem to find any US Night fighter sqds

I'm in June 1943 so I'm sure I should have some!

Any help greatly appreciated

There was a thread on this recently - they are few and far between, starting with some small P-70 squadrons, later expanding to more numerous groups, of, and that upgrade to P-61 Black Widows - which can haul an excellent bomb load and make great attack aircraft by day. I suggest you open the scenario in the editor, go to airgroups, and the go down the list to find the NFS. You might also note that there are some NFS that are in effect detachments of the big groups, such as 18th FG. The RAF get maybe 2 or 3 squadrons, eventually. (1945?) One of those might be Canadian.

The key point is that with PDU on you can create a squadron or two for each airforce, and you then need to put them at a 9 base with the AF HQ so they throw a little bit of night CAP over the various bases to scare off IJ night annoyances.

TLDR: You don't get TFS of F-117s in this game. You get a few squadrons of radar equipped NF that put some CAP over your main bases, and that's about it.

P61As show up in May of '44. Until then every fighter is a night fighter.

PS: You didn't ask about USN or USMC night qualified squadrons - that is a more convoluted subject.

P-70s has recently worked for me as escort for night bombing groups.

P-70 with AI radars? Interesting Fred.

I have only ever got much useful offensive work from P61s.

Could be, as always, training.

If you train for night missions (i.e. by flying at night) that must be useful.
