This is a very comprehensive and complex game and getting started can be challenging. Of course, one should read the manual, but getting advice from experienced players on how to interpret certain things helps a lot. There are some great Let's Play series around, like the one from TheHistoricalGamer vs XTRG, but I tend to avoid those until I have played sometime myself. Figuring out the strategy is the whole point of the game, so I don't want to watch those until I've tried it for myself. In the beginning, I look for help only with the rules and mechanics of the game.

If you're like me, I'd like to recommend the basic tutorial series I just binged on Youtube, from the Strategy Gaming Dojo. It's very comprehensive, well structured, and narrated. It's almost professional quality! Really amazing job done to support newbies to get started on WitP AE. I think this tutorial must be pinned down at the top of this forum!

It seems I'm not allowed to post links here, so just search for "War in the Pacific: AE - Basic Tutorial (Part 1 - Intro and Options)" on Youtube. A huge thank you to Strategy Gaming Dojo for this fantastic tutorial series!

After I think 10 posts you can post links or images. Images will be of importance.

Further advice:

- 1 - the manual can be searched, so search it, it may answer your question.

- 2 - the search function here works well enough, and there are many old topic threads that answer questions

- 3 - if you still don't find your answer then -

(a) - say in a post I have read in the manual at page "xyz" , and I have searched the topic using key words "ABC" over all topic spread (not last 365 days) with no joy... then the grumpy old men here (me included) will be less incensed.

(b) - PUT A SCREENSHOT IN YOUR POST!!

Sorry for shouting but a picture tells a thousand words. It is a complex simulation, and you may not be looking at the right section of a sub-screen.
