Just a quick question... a given unit has a predetermined sound effect when moving.
Is there any way to mod a unit's movement sound effect, or is this hard-coded?
te
For example, if using the game-default division slot (which by default uses the army_corps_movement .ogg) and making a motorised unit out of it, is there any way to associate the motorised_movement.ogg sound effect to it? This is just for flavour, but I thought to ask.

Love the roar of the uk fighters (is it a merlin engine?) versus slight higher pitch of the Messerschmitt

It can be done, by changing the content of the motorised_movement.ogg, e.g. by renaming it, using another that comes with the game, copying that and renaming the pasted version as motorised_movement.ogg.

The only catch is that the change will affect all units that use motorised_movement.ogg, so it might require a little testing to be sure of the change.

Hi Caesar_Aug,

Yes as Bill mentioned, the associations are unfortunately hard coded at the moment. It's not the first time it has been asked if this could be set in the Editor, per unit, even per nation basis where you could adjust the associations, it's just a big job and not at the top of the list which is why it hasn't been implemented up to now. If I'm being honest, and as great as it would be to have, it's not likely to either with other items always seemingly taking a bigger priority.

Hubert

Custom sound effects offer something to think about as game development progresses . . . I'm looking forward to the cussing, moaning and groaning from Italian troops as they're forced marched to their next destination.
