Please be warned that OP will quiz you to make sure you are a suitable player. I failed the quiz I guess but I wish the next interested party the best of luck.

Why be so petty?

I just asked a question to judge your experience level, just trying to find a more suitable opponent for a long game. That's all

You're right and I do apologize, but you were being just as petty by assuming I am less experienced or less talented based on some forum posts. Why ask for opponents if you won't believe them?

I apologise if I have offended you but it is not my intention.

Yet from posts, you can gauge the thinking and experience level of the person. Barring this, I can't think of a better way. This is my way of finding an opponent and it has proven successful in other game forums for numerous PBEM games. So can you drop this issue and let me find an opponent

You won't have a lot of success finding opponents if you go through their entire forum history and ask them what you think are the most important aspects of the game.

If a bad day a work is your reason for trolling, No, I am not interested in playing a game with you. Go play your games and let me play mine.

It is current official patch and the one I used for my last game. I usually don't upgrade to beta patches

I think maybe you should consider upgrading to the Beta. Its very stable and helps fix a few things that needed fixing.

And maybe find a few more players to play.

I have many, many, many WITE games under my belt and Joe Lewis may be the best opponent I have faced. Menschliches_Gehirn translates as "human brain"

Different people have different criteria in choosing opponents. I just ask him a simple question to see if we have some "gaming chemistry" and he started trolling. Also, he said other things which I shall not mention in the open which revealed a lot of his thinking. So you are making assumptions without accessing to our PMs.

Experience is important but human character is most important. I only play with friends. This is a long game and winning is not so important. For me this game is like a simulation, I enjoy the mutual learning experience with a friend, discuss our mistakes and so on....

I read about some "HQs trapped in a pocket" issue, being unable to be moved out or disband.

What is the criteria before a beta patch is made official?
What are the main issues fixed by v1.12 which are game changing? (long-term game balance impact)

Your statement is absolutely correct. I agree! The purpose is enjoyment. I am certainly no "Human Brain", however, about 30% of the time I can solve a math equation correctly 100% of the time and we all know that 100% is perfect! I'm also good at English. I have an excellent vocabulatory.

Good luck and enjoy your WITE experience.

No idea if they plan any more beta's.

There remain a few quirks in the system, but even I, who point out odd things once in a while, find the beta .06 pretty good and worth playing.

Managed to download all the patch notes for v.1.12 and it is 9 pages long!

Open to upgrade to v1.12.06 if someone is willing to take up the challenge.

@Menschliches_Gehirn - I would strongly recommend upgrading to v1.12.06 as almost everyone plays on that now and yes make sure to read the patch notes carefully as some significant changes. JoeLewis is a pretty decent player and has played in some team games so should be a pretty reasonable opponent unless you are "pelton" or "tyronec" level. I'm glad to volunteer to advise him if you 2 start a game. And you are welcome to quiz me though not sure I can answer everything past the first blizzard as none of my opponents have lasted that long ;)

Sorry to "but in" on this thread...however just curious, why take anyone is taking on a WiTE game now when WiTE2 is just around the corner? By the looks of it, it will be a far better simulation than WiTE currently is.

As for opponents, my main criteria are (1) not quitting on me, and (2) decent turn rate, (3) communications on real-life delays.

Your criteria for opponents are the same as mine.

Well v.1.12 patch notes is 9 pages and that is for a game in its 11th year. For WITE2, I am sure there will be lots of players rushing into it. But there will be bugs and game-balance issues to be
resolved and I prefer to wait a while. Different strokes for different folks
Plus, I feel that I still have something to learn in a somewhat stable game system, so I may got at it for a few more games.

For some reason, I cannot reply to your post directly.

I have closed communication regarding him in one of my previous post. No, I will not play a game with him and can you guys stop harping on it.

I think there are a number of reasons. The biggest reason is as they sit now, WITE1 is definitely a more balanced and proven game than WITE2. Eventually I expect WITE2 to become a better and more balanced game but it took quite a long time to achieve that in WITE1 and will probably take a while in WITE2. There is also obviously the financial side of it where many people might not be able to immediately afford WITE2 until it would be significantly discounted.

Not sure why but the forum software here can be a bit funky as its pretty old but you can just manually enter a quote from someone.

Ok, its your choice, I was just providing some advice around using the latest patch and saying that I've played with him before. Its the only reply I've made to this thread so no reason to get upset and accuse me of "harping on it". Good luck finding an opponent.

According to Cambridge Dictionary, harping on it means "to talk or complain about something many times".

Note that I use the phrase "can you guys stop harping on it". Guys in the plural sense referring to yourself redrum68, oldrocky (Post #12) and another guy who PM me. It is just a general and true statement, I don't think I "accused" anyone of anything

Not sure why you then felt the need to then defend yourself and quote a dictionary as again I was trying to be helpful and wished you good luck but I guess we can start to see a pattern in this thread... But the quick googles search gives this definition: "talk or write persistently and tediously on (a particular topic)." I wouldn't say my single comment falls into that definition and generally the term "harping" has a negative connotation which is why it isn't just a "true statement" but accusing people of things they didn't do.

Please read my post properly. I was saying "guys", not meaning you alone but all three guys.

I don't know who is trying to hijack my thread. I am just looking for an opponent and you guys keep trying to promote him. I have already said clearly that I will not play a game with him in a previous post and you guys still continue. If this not "harping", then I don't know what is.

In any case, just leave my thread alone. This is becoming "group trolling"

Frankly, I am quite disappointed with this forum so far as compared with other game forums.
Too many people refusing to take a game offer rejection or accepting other viewpoints.

Please, no more posts concerning JoeLewis
I am also glad I asked the few questions and eliminated future pains

Maybe a little background about myself. I have played board games and computer games for 35 years, starting with Third Reich in the 80s. I have played quite a number of Strategic & Operational level computer games like the AGEOD series and HPS Panzer Campaigns.

I have had bad trolling experience in another game forum but found my best opponent after that so I will stay optimistic

I did read your post and in no way do I see the 2 posts in this thread (1 by myself and 1 by oldrocky) to be anything even close to "harping" as I've tried to explain to you and not sure why you continue to insist I was "harping" on it. If you asked anyone to read those posts and whether they would consider that "harping" I'm pretty sure almost everyone would say no. Maybe you should re-read the posts as it appears you are filling in information that doesn't exist, adding in PMs which no one but you can see, and creating your own "truths". And now it appears you are doing the same thing all over again and now accusing me of "group trolling".

I've been around this forum and community for a while, found many great opponents, and never had any issues with anyone or any "group trolling". If you are experiencing similar responses across multiple forums then there would seem to be one obvious common factor... You may want to step back and read what you've posted in this thread.

Precisely because you only see the posts here and are not aware of the PMs that I received. So you are commenting without knowing the whole picture. I have been stressing the word "guys" and it does not only include yourself and oldrocky. Only the affected person which is myself knows and I classify it as "harping".

I am just trying to find an opponent and why do you all (that is multiple guys) keep on bringing up someone I do not wish to play with and openly said so.
If you are in my shoes, won't you consider it "harping"
