Interesting addition, congrats on the release.

re:
- PCLS (really interesting addition)
- You can now control the jettison of aircraft stores through Lua. (nice)
- New feature: Formation presets (very handy for authors)
- Distinct mobile ground units (awesome)
-- "it is now possible to explicitly model individual vehicles with their own customized properties such as armor, propulsion." (even better!)

Are there any plans for these to eventually trickle down to retail in the near term, particularly the latter 3?

The post at Warfare sims is Un professional since commercial players of the product can't buy it. Dimitris, what are you trying to prove? No one cares about the PE in this forum nor the few visitors to Warfare Sims. Anyone in the know, knows the US military laughs at your PE sim. They do. Period. Get over it. Thanks for the frequent updates to the commercial product and please just maintain a great WAR GAME. The US military has no room to deal with complete amateurs.

Pro sales are good for all of this as they pay for things civ won't. I hope they continue to do well and live happy.

That being said a good update of the civ databases and sim would be great. Folks have put some time in here on it so seems like a fair ask.

I think Command PE still runs on the CMNAO engine. So parts of it are fairly behind CMO. It also looks like CMO gets updated quite a bit more frequently than CPE.

How often should CMO be updated to make people feel like the work they put into it is worth it? It had a fairly significant update about four months ago, including a big database update. Should they do that every other month? I'm just curious what is worth the work that some players are putting into it.

And I agree on the CPE money the devs get is a good thing for us players. Its the same reason I hold no grudges against eSim and Steel Beasts. The players get whipped around based on government contracts and needs, but it funds continued development.

This game has been out for almost eight years and I think there have been only two updates that required any payment. And required is probably not the right word. Those updates were for a few of the features from CoW in CMNAO and then the upgrade to CMO. And the CoW features got added into the upgrade for CMO. Every other database update and functional addition has been free. The scope of those changes are in the back of the manual. And they put out a beta to address any new issues about every month or two.

So they announce an upgrade for their military customers and instead of a congrats or great job, they get crapped on for not bringing new features into the game fast enough. Games like Combat Mission and Steel Beasts take literally years to put out fixes and they charge for any updates. So I'm a little lost on where the hate comes from.

btw, this type of announcement isn't new, they have done it on CPE updates before. Why are people who've been on the forum for years suddenly unaware of that?

This can work in both directions actually; the game version could be used by the team to polish the PE version, notably for bug corrections. First you update the game version, we "beta test" for them, then they ship the polished version to the industry.

You sure seem to do a lot of "fooling around" lately. btw, that was not fooling around. Fooling around would be a single post with a "just kidding", or an emoticon, or such. Not a couple posts with a similar theme.

You come here to take it out
Get your wrist slapped
Resort to personal attacks
Stop posting for a few days
Start scouring the web for "news" items
Start the cycle over again.

Calm down? Take a look at your two posts at the top. Maybe, again, take some of your own advice. This was a very innocuous thread. What would possess someone to come in and throw that crap around. I don't think anyone buys the just fooling around excuse. Its pretty obvious you have regrets doing it.
