Hello all.
I am still setting up my forces as the Allied player per Kull's spreadsheet.
I often add future objectives as a reminder in case I forget where they eventually need to go.
I was reading through a post last evening, and someone had mentioned "never set future objectives unless you want to enemy to know what you are about".
Is this correct?
Are enemy intelligence operations modelled in the game, other than recon etc?

If you're playing the AI, don't worry about it. If you're playing with a live player then signal intelligence can pick it up for your opponent....GP

Only Allies get significant signal intelligence.

Many thanks, sir.
I was debating if I should dedicate a note pad to future objectives and hide it under the sofa

VonWulfen,
Be careful, your pet may be a Japanese plant.

Seriously, Allied Signals Intel is much more effective than Japanese. You can see this in the Saved text files that are generated when playing the AI. You can see the Japanese Ops & SIGINT reports in the same folder where yours are saved. I recommend you do that to understand the differences between Allied & Japanese in-game capabilities. Some people that play a person are more likely to avoid putting an objective down for an assault or support unit, if the enemy is not expecting the attack, and it is a critical operation with sufficient friendly forces to overcome the lack of preparation at the objective. Be aware that the SIGINT will sometimes also report the destinations of ships & which units are loaded on them. Most likely you have seen that with the Allied Intel on the Japanese.

the only case it can work against you is if you play pbem as japanese. On the other side, japanese intel is so weak you don't have to fear anything

Do not underestimate Japanese SigInt, it can be used to good effect, if you know how to do it. Radio transmissions may betray the Allied convoy routes, or the presence of a big TF, allowing the IJN to do some ambushes.

Check DesertWolf’s Empire of the Sun AAR, there have been a couple of examples there, lately.

Not true. The attack listed here was the result of Japanese signal intelligence:

There was an earlier one as well. A later one failed where the KB was just a few hexes away from a 100 ship convoy.

All true, but specific to the OP's question, Japanese intel does not reveal Allied LCU preparation locations. So while the Japanese get some benefit from prep point misdirection, the Allies don't have to worry about it.

That is true but the Japanese player might be able to follow the big fleet as it approaches its target and decide whether or not to attack and if so, when and where to attack.

That link says the post has been deleted.
