I am curious to know what 3 games people go to most often when they play. This is not a thread to argue about which games someone may feel are best...........only which 3 you play most. Please try to stay on topic.

Please list only 3. It can be a single game or a game series.

I will start.

1. The Combat Mission Series.

2. The Field of Glory Series.

3. Lock and load Tactical Digital.

Not necessarily in order:

- John Tiller's Campaign Series
- Combat Mission x1
- Harpoon 3 (ANW if MP)

1. Matrix World In Flames
2. Civilisation IV
3. Rome Total War

That's not a top three - that is a list of the three, the only games I've returned to again and again over the years.

I have bought many Matrix titles over the years and have got (what I consider to be) my money's worth from most of them. But I play them, have fun and then move on. I don't ever go back to them (with the exception of the king of them all - World In Flames.

Not quite sure, but anyway...
Steel Panthers
Sid Meier's Civilization
Probotector (European/PAL censored version of Contra)

There are a number of contenders, but it isn't like I have counted hours for every game I have ever played.

1st) Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes
2nd) My Racing Career
3rd) Rule the Waves 2

When I eventually get back to commuting I expect another android \ web game will replace no.3.

Excluding Civ and HOMM and sticking to wargames as we refer to them.

Squad Leader prior to ASL

Third Reich into Advanced Third Reich

Steel Panthers in various forms.

Honourary mention, Battle Academy.

Game I wish I spent more time on, tie between TOAW or Advanced Tactics.

I'm going by most time spent playing overall:

1. Close Combat II A Bridge Too Far
2. Civilization I & IV
3. Russia (SSG C-64 East Front game)

For Matrix games it would probably be their
makeover of the John Tiller Campaign Series.

I was so much into Close Combat II that I made
parody box art to lampoon certain players, custom 3D maps, etc.

Yeah, I'm not afraid to use psychological advantages in my wargames.

In no order. Most played games throughout my gaming lifetime? Impossible to say, Elite would be high up (On the BBC B 32k micro computer, amazing what they could do with so little power back then. Football Manager on the BBC B too I played loads) , so would Gunship and Balders Gate games, oh and CC games esp CC2 along with those mentioned below. Can't forget CMBB and the more recent titles either. Dwarf Fortress, sadly forgot alot of what I learned and just can't get motivated to relearn these days. Red Orchestra 2 I spent alot of time playing aswell.

More recent year or so

Wings Over Flanders Fields
Graviteam Tactics Muis Front and DLC
Silent Hunter 3 and 5 with mods\Or a CMx2 game

War in the Pacific: AE
Distant Worlds Universe

Been a while but I will install and play Civ3 and Medieval Total War occasionally.

Since WitP and the Admiral's Edition, Distant Worlds Universe is the only "new" game I've added over the years.

Top 3 that I go to consistently (ie play one or more of these weekly):

1. War in the East
2. War in the Pacific AE - have had a campaign game vs AI in motion since 2014
3. Command Ops Series (1 & 2)/CMNAO-CMO - couldn't split these two

My top 3 that I played exclusively on Steam:

1. Tom Clancy's The Division - 1556.9 hrs
2. Total War Warhammer 2 - 1127.7 hrs - would have been more but due to mods not being updated, most of my campaigns cannot be finished
3. EUIV - 1048.3 hrs - principally driven around a Castile - Spain full game

Other notables with significant Steam time - The Witcher 3 (503.7 hrs), Skyrim (390 hrs), STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl (240.8 hrs) and Subnautica (217.9 hrs)

Cheers

Wow, a combination of the above!

Hearts of Iron IV is the only one "missing" unless I have missed it.

Alpha Centauri is good. Apparently a book was written about the plot as well. There was a follow on which added some aliens . . .

Masters of Orion 2 has updates, there is an autoloader program into DosBox as well as an editor for the saved games. It is also possible to play multiplayer.

Computer:
Tactical/Ground: Steel Panthers / Tigers on the Hunt(*)
Tactical/Air: Flight Commander / Over the Reich / Achtung Spitfire / Check 6 (big disappointment)
4X: Master of Orion / Civilization

Board:
Tactical/Ground: Squad Leader / ASL
Tactical/Air: Air Force + Expansions / Air Superiority + Expansion
Tactical/Sea: Ironbottom Sound / The Royal Navy / Harpoon

(*) I understand Wehrmacht tanks are sexy and putting them in the name of a game has sense, but I dream buying a tactical game titled "Shermans/T-34s on the Prowl"

I would buy blindly a game titled "Totally Average Valor" or "Against... those Guys Over There: Band of In-laws". It would show that the developers have at least some ballsy spirit.
