Peter/Paullus are there any plans for anything new for TOTH? Maybe just
a small correction, update, or enhancement that can be combined in a new DLC would be greatly appreciated and re-instill life to TOTH and the Forum. Well, I'm just mentioning what most people are wondering. We all know life happens that can prevent TOTH from being highly prioritized But a word or two about what's next is anxiously awaited by all. Thanks guys for a great game!

Sam,

I hear ya!

I do want this game to go forward with something even in the smallest way. Anything would be better than nothing!

Today I saw a short video on a squad level game called Valor and Victory by Matrix. It looks really exciting! But after I saw it, I was put back that Matrix was developing a new game above Tigers on the Hunt squad level.

Peter,

I will never take anything away from you. This game is your baby and out of the gate its not bad! But I feel it could use a development team like the Campaign Series to move it ever forward.

The Campaign Series Legion is doing some next generation design and scripting with that game engine, regarding the soon to be released Vietnam that will blow your socks off!!

TotH has potential a lot of it and we're coming up on the 5th anniversary!

Thanks for hearing me out!

Regards,
John

Hey John, good to hear from you too! A couple of months ago I completed my 8-week radiation treatment
followed by chemical castration to eliminate testosterone because it acts as fuel to fire with
prostate cancer. So far, so good except that I no longer have to shave and I cry a lot!

The Valor and Victory game does look very promising and it appears to be an upgraded version of TOTH so
much so that I applied to be a beta tester for VAV. John, like everybody else, we have been drifting away
from TOTH in favor of newer wargames due to lack of anything new. More scenarios do not provide enough spice
for continued enthusiasm when playing the AI. Multiplayer would help with that because the human opponent
would provide that "spice" without changing the game as is. Anyway, I'll continue to monitor the forum from
time to time and who knows what TOTH surprises I may find. SeeYa.

there is no next .

the game was released to a very hungry and willing community .
for a couple of years the devs tried their best to deal with the issues but never really did .
LRF for example
then the expansions come out , with many of the original issues , but still the community bought those expansions in the believe that the developers would deal with the problems in time .
there was even official talk of TOTH 3D without the original TOTH issues working .
look through the scenarios , mods etc , all community contributions working around the bugs of the game .
look at how many scenarios were released through the devs , bugger all ,
a game that relied upon the community to supply content while not fixing basic issues.
without the support of the community this game would have died a long time ago.
And i have mentioned `community` many times in this post , for a reason
they have kept this game going for a long time
pretty sure the major contributors know who they are .
scenario makers , modders, and those who pointed out failures in the game while trying to improve it .
the game hit its peak a couple of years after release , then the limitations became clear .
just posting this for the those who may be looking at buying .
there is a ton of content , but the basics arent there.

I'm afraid Fuselex is right, "there is no next". The two largest topics in the forum,
"Where we are & where we are going" and "Feature Request" were all about the future
of TOTH that kept our hopes up through the years but not anymore. There used to be
daily posts now nothing. The real clincher was when Peter said he's been on the mend
but now he's back yet, all that anticipation for Peter's return to get back to TOTH has
"petered out" for lack of any input about the future of TOTH. I suppose because there
is no future.

Another potential great wargame lost to the dustbins of time...

It seems TOTH is not ever going to be updated or enhanced, another still born. So sad but time to move on.

Peter, I read that thread, as well as any other new post appearing in this forum.

Of course, taking care of your health has the utmost priority and deciding whether to entrust any further development to others or not is your business, not ours.

All that being said, there is nothing we (the ToTH community) can do but to wait and see, and this is what all of us stated above.

As I said in the thread you quoted, take care, you will find us there: for many of us ToTH is still a dream that's becoming true.

We are not asking for a new game, only a scenario editor (paying of course !!!) on other periods of the war!

I have a great deal of sympathy for those who suffer illness. Strokes are very serious. People are well advised to look after themselves first, and deal with everything else when they can. I am hoping that at some point in the future Peter Fisla will feel comfortable to continue work on TotH, or to have someone under his direction work on it.

You all may be missing that Peter is probably much more upset at not being able to work on his project than you are. Good things come with patience.

My respect to Peter for making this game...........and of course to the modders and scenario makers who are keeping it alive.

Thank you Firebri for your kind words. I'm kind of surprised that the game still sells after 5 years...something I wasn't expecting at all.

Peter,

I play it quietly in the confines of my home every now and then. I confess, I don't publish much about it anymore due to other commitments. Sorry!

But it is a great game my fried, hands down!!

You did good!!!

You are right UP844, the ASL crowd love this title.

The scale of the maps is good. The hex sizes are good. The game plays really well.

The only thing with me is, the graphics do look a little dated.

If someone could make a mod that is between, the colourful mod and the new Valor & Victory game. It would be fantastic.
