I think I don't understand how armor thickness works... According to 5.12.3.4, I need to have some weapon with larger armor penetration than the target armor if I don't what to have some penalties.

Small Arms have 20mm penetration, but I can design light tanks with 5mm metal armor. Does that means that this 5mm armor is useless against infantry ?

Other question: I have some Bazooka units armed with "bazooka" (no RPG tech yet). How can I found out which armour it can penetrate ?

Thanks

"Useless" is perhaps too strong of a word. It's "just" that these 20mm small arms won't get an attack penalty against this 5mm armor.

(And since this is hard armor, AFAIK it always gets a Soft HP penalty on the model, making that model even worse against soft weapons like 20mm small arms ?)

I *think* that Bazooka is a (normal) Hollow weapon, which is a 100mm (according to the manual) weapon ? (I think it's a soft weapon, but I'm not certain ?)

If the weapon has a MM value, that is it's the level on wich it penerates armor.
Other weapons have an effective Armor Penetration value listed in 5.12.3.4
Note that even personal armors starting with the padded E-Suit have a effective armor MM value.

5mm Armor is the minimum armor.
It is basically the "this is a vehicle with walls on all sides" level of armor.
It is the kind of armor thickness you find on vehicles where they intentionally reduced armor, for speed reason. And even there only at the weak spots.
If you pick the minimum armor option for a vehicle, you are designing it to blow up easily.

That being said, you have a serious missunderstanding how AP works:
There is no bonus for having a higher effective callibre then armor thickness*
5mm armor has the same HP against a Small arm and a Atomic Missile. It just has such a low HP value, it will still be very explody.
Only weapons suffer a penalty, if their mm is smaler then the targets armor.

*Usually AP weapons use the strenght of the enemies armor when going in to arm the warhead - so the damage happens on the inside.
But if the target has a too weak armor you get a overpeneratrion - basically you shot the world largest bullet through a thing that will not die from a single bullet hole.
