Rommell's Army Group South continues to make good progress - Soviet re-enforcements have not been enough to stem the tide but they did come as a rude shock to the General who was assured by the Abwehr that no serious resistance was to be expected.

German Paras [SS & Fallschirmjäger] have been dropped behind enemy lines and are blocking any more troops reaching the operational area. If the panzers can get to the bridges across Dnieper river its all over for Soviets in this neck of the woods as their supply lines will be cut- that's the plan anyway.

Spring thaw has brought offensive operations to a halt just as Rommel had Victory in his grasp...

However STAKVA is gathering considerable forces to launch a Counter attack in the direction of Kiev to the East of the Dnieper River.

When the ground dries again the fate of the Ukraine will be decided ...

NOTE: The Partisan War is now well underway.

Army Group South under Rommel will now switch focus from seizing the bridges over the Dnieper to making an all out assault to the south west to seize the city of Kherson. The Axis forces south of Uman will simultaneously attempt a breakthrough to link up with Rommel's panzers.

Across on the eastern side of the Dnieper the Soviets are mustering their fresh Reserves to drive on Kiev and take the heat off their troops on the West Bank.

Crown Prince Mohammad Reza Pahlavi took the oath to become the new Shah of Iran as a client of the British Empire.

With the southern route open with Persia now in Anglo-Soviet hands 'Volunteers' from the Soviet Armed Forces have arrived in Greece to assist the Greeks in their fight against Fascism.
They are a mix of Regulars and exiled communists that have been armed and trained by Moscow.
If war with Italy breaks out again the Marshal is ready to commit them to Battle.

Britain & France ponder their next move...

In the Crimea Axis Forces are approaching Sebastopol but they will have a fight on their hands to take the City. The amphibious assault at the opening of the campaign was a huge failure as the boats carrying the Gebirgsjägers were almost wiped out by the Sebastopol flotilla & attacks by Soviet bombers. However the breakthrough into the Krim was accomplished with lower casualties than expected.

The Germans broke through the defenses around Rostov after heavy fighting and are clearing up pockets of resistance on the south bank of the Don as Soviet units attempt to flee the area...

Further south the German Panzers are now loose and advancing south towards the Caucasus mountains rapidly and are at the gates of Maikop and its vital oilfields.

The head of the NKVD Lavrentiy Pavlovich Beria has been tasked by Stalin with overseeing the defenses of the city of Grozny. He personally assures the First Secretary that he will not return to Moscow unless the job is done and the Marshal agrees with him...

The Cossacks have now risen in Revolt at the prompting of Abwehr agents to rise against the Godless Communists.
