Hello! I've just returned to the Eastern Front after many years lost in the gaming wilderness and am looking for a comprehensive list of resources that will help me to immerse myself in, and crack, this wonderful monster of a game. I bought WitE1 back in the day and, try as I might, I kept skimming off it - too many other distractions in life back then. I saw news of the imminent release of WitE2 a couple of months ago, but said to myself 'Not until I've cracked WitE', but I buckled on day 1 and purchased it anyway.

I'd be hugely grateful if you could suggest a list of reading material, movies, documentaries, podcasts, Youtube tutorials, AARs etc that might help me better understand the theatre of war in general, and playing what I hope will become my 'best game ever!'

My eventual plan is to compile your suggestions into a comprehensive list that may serve as help to other, similarly minded individuals wanting to get into WitE2. Thanks in advance.

Hi Rob

IMHO the Strategygaming Dojo set of tutorials on You Tube are incredibly good for WITE 1 and WITW (both of which I also bounced off when they came out and only got into in the last 3 months due to his tutorial series).

He has just started a series on WITE 2 and I can totally recommend it.

For books I would recommend

1) When Titans Clashed: How the Red Army Stopped Hitler (Modern War Studies)

2) Operation Barbarossa and Germany's Defeat in the East (Cambridge Military Histories) by David Stahel

3)Death of the Wehrmacht: The German Campaigns of 1942 (Modern War Studies) by Robert Citino

Others will no doubt recommend others.

All the best

Thanks devoncop! I saw cbrandonellis' (Strategy Gaming Dojo) post earlier in the week and have watched the first two episodes of his WitE2 tutorial, and will dive into his Let's Play series too. Is it worth watching the WitE and WitW tutorials, or would it be best to be patient and wait for more of his WitE2 tutorials instead? I don't want to muddy the pool by absorbing old/inaccurate info. Also, I have just order When Titans Clashed from my library, so that should get that ball rolling when it arrives. The other two aren't in my library system, but I'll keep an eye out for them online and at my local bookshops.

Looking forward to other peoples suggestions.
