quote:

7.3.3. Isolated Hex Conversion
Isolated hexes (23.14.1) that are not occupied by a friendly
unit, or adjacent to a friendly combat unit may switch
control to the other side automatically during friendly
logistics phases. This will happen if they are adjacent to
any enemy combat unit or within 2 hexes of an enemy
division or corps sized unit
.

The bold part is unclear to me. So if hexes of the enemy are isolated and there are no enemy units in their they won't convert?

yep, that is exactly what happens. You can end up with bypassed hexes that don't flip to your control. its unlikely and most plausibly somewhere deep in the Pripyet but it can occur

This is especially plausible when an enemy depot exists in the non-flipped area. So make sure you take all of the dot towns and such if you are bypassing an area otherwise it will resist flipping control.

Sorry, I don't get it. What refers "they" to in the seconnd - bold - sentence. For which occasions is the bold sentence. If "they" are my troops, why do they have to be within 2 hexes of an enemy unit?

I can't post any picture unfortunately. But I have surrounded the (enemy) region around Ainazi (next to Gulf of Riga - RtL scenario) and sides didn't flip :-(

The 'they' in the second bold sentence refers to the isolated hexes. So it would read: "This will happen if the isolated hexes are adjacent to any enemy combat unit or within 2 hexes of an enemy divisions or corps sized unit."

in that sentence 'enemy controlled hexes' - agree it could be clearer if spelt out

Thanks, carlkay58 and Roger. Now it is clear.

My pocket wasn't cleared cause there were no units from me anywhere near it. So one needs a backroom unit for those pockets to clear up. A division will clear one hex around itself while moving and when it stands, 2 more hexes will change in the logistic phase.
