I just started wite2 on new new laptop computer. version 1.00.07. When making first few moves (German transferring air units between airfields on first turn of 41 campaign game) the game has repeatedly just shut down. Sometimes it shows a black screen before shutting down.

I played wite2 test versions on an old dell laptop with no problem, but then purchased new computer and loaded the official version of the game onto the new computer and its shutting down. I haven't had any other problems with the new computer.

Thank you

Could you please post a DxDiag per the info here:

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4987555

Could you also please post any crash dump files. Can you check if you have a crash dump file named like WarInTheEast2.exe.<number>.dmp in C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\CrashDumps ?

If you find one, please zip and attach it to the forum message. Thanks.

I have never been able to figure out how to attach a file to one of these forums. But I replied to the email message you sent with the dxdiag file, which I also sent to slitherine support who said they would forward the message to someone on your team. It would be great if you could tell me how to attach files to the forum.

Thank you,

There is a "click here to upload" link at the bottom when you create new forum message.

Files has to be of certain extension - "gif/txt/jpg/png/zip are supported"

Were you able to find a crash dump file?

I tried to run the game with the new beta (11) and it died with that version as well.

I could not find the crashdump file

I did find this message when I searched for crashdump

https://www.bing.com/search?q=crash+dumps+windows+10&FORM=QSRE1

Apr 02, 2021 · To open and analyze a dump file created by a crash on Windows 10, use these steps: Open Start . Search for WinDbg , right-click the top result, select the Run as administrator option.

Based on the crash signature form dxdiag, crash happens in Intel video driver - igdumdim32.dll. It must be some compatibility issue of Intel driver and DX9

Ex:

Problem signature:
P1: WarInTheEast2.exe
P2: 1.0.0.7
P3: 606b6c06
P4: igdumdim32.dll
P5: 27.20.100.9268
P6: 601d95cc
P7: c0000005
P8: 0000b132
P9:
P10:

As I see system has Intel DCH driver 27.20.0100.9268 installed

Driver: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\iigd_dch.inf_amd64_044fd6f0c2ae28a8\igdumdim32.dll

You may try to update to newer version - 9316
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/30266/Intel-Graphics-Windows-10-DCH-Drivers

Intel is known to have crash issues with various games:
https://downloadmirror.intel.com/30266/eng/ReleaseNotes_100.9316.pdf

I still wish to see game’s crash dump. Can you try to setup crash dump generation as described here - https://www.meziantou.net/tip-automatically-create-a-crash-dump-file-on-error.htm?

There seem to be a Windoze problem as well with reported driver crashes and/or FPS drops caused by one of the latest Windoze 10 cumulative updates.
