I was foolish and pressed the "check for updates" button on my screen. It updated the patches to 4.0.1.23 and then told me I needed to install patch 4.1.0.20. When I clicked the link it came up "page not found". Sigh.... I read through the forums on patch 4.1.0.20 and tried the links which all came up "page not found". The final suggestion of the forum was to uninstall and then reinstall. Now comes the foolish part.
I have searched everywhere and cannot find my original disk and serial number.
The only other thing I can come up with is to buy the game again. That's no problem. After countless hours play since it came out I have more than got my money's worth. Now to my question.

If I buy the new game through matrix and download it online will it be up to date or will I have to check for updates and go through all this bulls**t again?

If you registered the game you can download again. https://www.matrixgames.com/contacts

Click on MY PAGE at the top and then log in with your forum log in. You have to download and install the game and two patches. Can't recall what the patches are. Been awhile but I do believe that info is at the top of the forums main page.

If you bought it on Steam just reinstall and everything is done for you.

BTW, you are not the first one to click on that stupid check for patch trap. I would rate it as malware.

You might want to open an account at Dropbox or some other cloud storage service and keep copies of all your games there, just in case. I've been doing this for years, works great for me.
