Hello all pationate history lovers !

Currently the game is 700 TRY and there are no posible way that a normal student can buy it in Turkey. Think of it like the game is 700 Dolar for you. Please change the price tag for some countries. Im a university student, im working in a part time job at the university and the income i get from that job (1 month worth of income) is 550 try. Im ready to give 200 to 300 try but i cant give 700 as a normal student !

I am a fan of this series ! And i was waiting wite2 for a long time ! But when i see the price tag i understood that there are no posible ways that i can buy the game with TRY.

Please consider this problem and designate different prices for different countries !

Thank you very much !

Buy the download when it goes on sale later this year. Also there's a lot of content and I feel this game is worth every penny....GP

You may also wait for the game to be offered in Steam (though I think it may take some time). Steam has a policy of different price in different regions, and I think generally a much lower price outside Western countries.

i know this new game worths every penny developers put all of their time and resources to develop this game. But the thing i wanted to say is with a price tag of 700 TRY there will be no one that can affort it in turkey. If the game would priced 700 dolar, how many people would buy it in US

Im planing to wait for steam release i hope it will have a seperate price for different countries

I mean it's not really the producers fault to manage the Turkish lira crisis. I get it sucks but its just reality. And no, 700 TRY is not like having it be 700 for other people. You have to understand while it sucks some games cost more in other countries, it's incredibly easy for people to VPN as a cheaper country and obtain a game for a way cheaper than in their own country, which short changes the producers.

It looks expensive for Russia and Ukraine too! Honestly, once upon a time we bought games for three people! :)

As of this afternoon, 700 Turkish Lira is about $86.77
It is not so much about inflation as the wages in developing nations are still pretty low.

...the average salary in Turkey seems to be around 12k USD per year.
...the average salary in USA seems to be around 60k USD per year.

...so it has nothing to do with lira crisis. Matrix Games products are aimed at Western markets. Anywhere else you need to basically be rich to buy them.

...or wait like five years until Steam or GoG puts them on sale.

Also, on which platform can you change your country via VPN and make the purchase? Your details, as well as your payment details are not so easy to change.

Nearly every big game company arranges prices according to the country. And as a potential customer i wanted to say this problem. I dont want to buy the game 4 years later

I understand where you are coming from, but how is this any different from someone who wants a luxury car waiting for it to be a few years old until they can afford it?

This is not a big game company, this is the equivalent of buying a tailored suit or luxury car.

I also don't think Matrix/Slitherine sets the price per nation. They use a third-party website for payments and licensing, and I think they handle pricing based on nation.
It does not appear to be a straight currency conversion, I am not sure how they figure it out.

It is truly a mystery, this same discussion was had for Shadow Empire. I compared the prices for Canada for games through the Matrix store, and through Steam, and it was 20% lower through Steam.

I noticed someone above saying that Steam has a policy of different prices in different regions, this is *not* actually true.
First, a person who works in the industry - not for Matrix or Slitherine - said that Steam lets you set your own prices, you can put whatever you want, as reasonable or unreasonable as you like, they make recommendations, but they don't actually decide.
Second, you can find websites online that compares Steam prices in different countries for different games, and the reality is that they are all over the map. In many cases the differences are minor within a couple percent or less, and there appears to be some deliberate fudging so that in the local currency they come out at X.99 or X.49 (does anyone fall for that? I always just round up). Other cases the prices are noticably lower in some countries than others, and in other cases the prices are noticably higher in those same countries. It does seem to be fairly consistent for a manufacturer though. But there is clearly no Steam wide standard.

Which left me wondering why the heck Matrix would set the pricing the way they do? I really couldn't understand it. If however the people deciding the prices in the store and on Steam aren't the same people, that could explain it.

As a note, I did a quick online currency conversion for the Turkish Lira to Canadian Dollar, 700 TRY is about $108 CAN, which is about what I paid for the game (after a 10% discount they had at the time). So the price isn't that wacky after currency conversion. Also the price they list isn't strictly the price you will be charged, when I bought the game the price I was charged at the end of Checkout was a few bucks different (lower I think), so the price is still seemingly subject to daily exchange rate fluctuation (which in the case of the Lira, may not be a good thing as it looks to be taking it in the ear right now).

Alternately you can wait for it on Steam, but that will probably be about 6 months. The price may be lower then.

And as stated, the Lira is kinda getting beat up right now, so perhaps now is just not the time to be making foreign market purchases.

I have found it very difficult to find out what Matrix is charging in different countries, so if someone from the US can tell us how this price compares, that may be helpful.

700 TRY = 86.47 USD at the exchange rate at this time (0.12353)

Also for interest sake, when I took the 108 CAN and converted it to USD it still came out at $86 and change. So if the price in the US is around $86 (give or take a dollar or two) then it is not deliberate price setting, merely fun with the exchange rate.

I wasn't going to send any more messages on this topic but i felt like i'm misunderstood. We can not compare this game with a luxry car. As you said the company is not big that is why what im trying to say here is very important. Without designated prices for countries there will be no one buying it. This is the first time in my life that i see a game with such a high price in my country. I know the game and developers deserve high prices for their effort and i will buy this game eventually without looking to its price. I only want this game to be popular and affordable in my country like wite1 which is 115 TL not 700 TL.

And i really have to thank to kind people of this community that offered me help ! Im making my university research project on wargaming and AI. Wite series are really inspired me.

that 115TL for WITE, was that the price on the Matrix website? or from Steam?
was it bought in a store?

because I can tell you, I bought WITE Deluxe from Steam 6 years ago for 60€ and that was with a sale. Im in Portugal (EU) btw.

it's more about the demand side of things as I understand it. The type of people who would buy(and play) this kind of game are the 0.1% of gamers even among strategy game fans. so the revenue potential of sales will always be very limited. better to set a high price from the beguining so you have wiggle room for sales later.

having said all of that. the price for the TL could go down. considering average salaries, etc.
