Gentlemen:

Does anyone have some of the saved scenarios/campaigns from some of the older sites such as:

STEEL PANTHERS HQ.

THE STEEL TIGER's HQ

Unfortunately I don't have any of those.

But are you familiar with the "Bulge 1999" extra campaign for Steel Panthers 2? My memory is hazy but I recall it was available as a separate download from the SSI website back in the days. It requires the game to be patched to version 1.1 for it to be selectable.

I still have a backup copy of the self extracting "SP2BULGE.EXE". It is 656 kb in size. In addition to the Bulge 1999 campaign it also included 10 scenarios from slots 100 - 108 and 110.

However I am not sure of the legal status of this add-on. I think it was available as a free bonus but it's been so many years and I have not been able to find any of the original documentation about it.

I have the SSI "Steel Panthers Arsenal" shovelware compilation of SP1/2/3 and all the addon CDs, and the best part is; Bulge 1999 is broken for the stock SP2 Arsenal CD ROM.

Actually, I'm interested in picking your brain, Hapshott.

How'd you collect so many SP scenarios?

Hi,

This is not my site. I just gave all my collected scenario’s to the site owner.

I collect all Wargame scenario’s I can get my hands on. I’m a kind of scenario hoarder. I started to do this already in 1990. So after 31 years the amount is huge.

The strange thing is that I never played most of the scenario’s i have. They are just on my harddrive.

Hopefully, it's well backed up. Be a shame to lose all that if the drive failed.

That's going back a ways. Somewhere around here I do have everything from when I ran The Depot. If that interests you I'll try and make time to dig it out.

I found the archived ssionline web page and I remembered correctly. The Bulge 1999 campaign for Steel Panthers 2 was a separate download from their web site:
https://web.archive.org/web/19980119064106/http://ssionline.com/games/steel2_camp/index.html

See the "Download the BULGE 1999 Campaign HERE" link at the bottom of the page. The download page link for the actual file is dead but I sent you the files in a PM from my own backups in case you are interested.

P.S.
It says you need to have the campaign disk but you can also access the bulge 1999 campaign after installing the v.1.1 patch.

Were you the one who uploaded your Steel Panthers scenarios to the Internet Archive as well?

https://archive.org/search.php?query=creator%3A%22Hapshott%22

If so, we'd all be greatly appreciative if you started to upload your other collections for other games as well.

I'm most definitely interested. But take your time! No need to hurry on my behalf.

Hello,

These are indeed my steel panthers scenarios. But I didn't place it myself on the archive.org.

Most scenarios I have are for steel panthers, TOAW, age of rifles, combat missions (CMx1), harpoon (HUCE), east front2, west front, rising sun, close combat, command modern operations and tigers on the hunt.

The Tigers on the hunt and command modern operations scenarios are available on this forum (and steam). The harpoon scenario from the harpoon side mentioned on this Matrix forum. Close combat from http://www.closecombatseries.net/

Steel panthers,TOAW, age of rifles, east front2, west front and rising sun and Combat mission are uploaded on
https://www.alternatewars.com/Games/Games.htm

I only uploaded the steel panthers scenarios. The others are not coming from me. Perhaps a few which are combined in the download bundles.

I'm still searching scenarios (or disks) for tigers on the prowl and panthers in the shadows. So if anyone has them available.....

Hapshott, that's my website.

Commentary:

Age of Rifles -- most of my scenarios are from the now-defunct Age of Rifles Yahoo Groups -- back in 2003, some AoR fans put together a compendium of 745 scenarios and 31 campaigns and then split it into a whole bunch of 5 MB spanned zip files (this was 2003). I managed to download them and then get the specialized file re-spanner to save the scenarios into a more modern format.

Combat Mission x1 -- I sat around one afternoon and put my scenario packs together from an old CMMODs v4.03 database I had lying around, supplemented with downloads from GreenAsJade's site (http://cmx1mods.greenasjade.net/)

John Tiller's East Front, West Front, Rising Sun -- Most of what I have is stuff that rmmwilg, here on the Matrix Games Forums found -- I simply rehosted them on a more permanent location (my site), so that they wouldn't be on a fly by night megadownloads.nz site that would disappear after a year.

Hello Ryan,

I know that it is your site. We had contact when I send you my steel panthers scenarios a few years ago.

What I meant to say is that most of the scenarios I have for the mentioned games are already available on your site.

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough that I did not put them there. I'm sorry for that.

Best regards,

Hapshott

For posterity I am attaching the Bulge 1999 bonus campaign for Steel Panthers 2 here for anyone interested in it after all these years.

quote:

Preamble:
This is the extra downloadable campaign 'Bulge 1999' for the game
Steel Panthers 2 by SSI (Strategic Simulations, Inc.) It was originally
released as a free bonus download on the old ssionline website back in
late 1996 - early 1997.

Bulge 1999 Installation Instructions

Download the file SP2BULGE.EXE 655k (671,205 bytes).

Copy the file SP2BULGE.EXE to the C:\STEEL2\SCEN directory.

Type the name of the file (SP2BULGE.EXE) or double-click on the file in
Explorer to extract the files to your current directory.

You are now ready to play the Bulge 1999 Campaign.

Note: You must have the Steel Panthers II: Modern Battles Campaign Disk,
to use this campaign.
(Addendum: Or just the regular game patched to version 1.1)

Extra notes for modern systems:

The self extracting executable is 16-bit so it will not work on modern
64-bit Windows operating systems. It should work fine with DOSBox emulator
or a real 16-bit or 32-bit Windows/DOS environment. Additionally it is
possible to open the self extracting file with a program like 7-zip or a
similar compressed archive manager to extract the files manually.
