Come on guys, sell it to me.

First thing's first though, because this is a deal-breaker (regardless of whether the game is good or not); is it like WITP-AE where the font of so much key information is written so that it looks like you are viewing Pluto using a telescope the wrong way round?

I am a gentleman of a certain age. I want to play a wargame. I don't want a headache after five minutes of intense squinting.

Thank-you.

Well, uhhhh, there are some places the font is very small and at 65 years old I have to really concentrate to see well. I use a 32" monitor and I get pretty close to see things.

Now the game quality.... excellent!!!

Warplan and Warplan Pacific have a great text adjust feature. I can make the text small or huge and everything between.

I'm not much of a salesman, sorry.

Ditto

Get tired of trying to read fonts in games that are way too small.

I have no problem with WITP:AE. I put the portable computer on my chest . . .

I though there was a windows setting to make fonts bigger? Also need to look in game options to see if it is scalable in game.

there's a lot of coding work going into trying to cope with all the variants of monitor/font size.

But yes, I think its pretty clear.

As to why, well the manual is superb (though I say it myself ), the game comes with 3 major AI-assist modes. You can pretty much automate any or all of the air war, the logistics system and the process of allocating support units. In both you have a fair bit of agency in that you set criteria but the AI will handle it all for you.

So its quite feasible to reduce your focus to essentially a divisional ground combat orientated game. The scenarios can help you get used to things and the later start dates for the campaign are both fun in themselves and a lot shorter than the entire 41-45 enterprise.

Because you don't have anything else to do with all of that money and you already have WitP:AE. Other than that I wouldn't bother.

Of course the big fans think it's the best thing since sliced bread.

I could give a few good reasons but then the hate would rain down and I see enough of that on the news.

War in the East 2 is the creme de la creme of Eastern Front war gaming. You can adjust the fonts to your liking. Away from my PC but can post my font changes. I am running on a 4k monitor and it looks splendid on both of the resolutions I use. The immersion and game play is beyond all other war games trying to portray the Eastern Front. I have played 95% of all board and pc wargames covering the Russian Front and all pale in comparison to WitE2. It is the king of all Eastern Front games, none can compare to its elegant beauty, sublime craftsmanship and attention to detail. Addictive, intense and yet fun and ease of detailed playing will leave you stunned and grinding for the next best move to cross the Dnper, Divina and on to Moscow before the frozen snow and the Siberian hordes are unleashed against the now fatigued and under supplied Axis army, the time is 0330, June 22nd, 1941...

No hate would come from me, I'd like to see what you don't like. It's not perfect, much of it is pretty complicated.

I've purchased War in The Pacific 9 years ago after recommendation from Ageod's American Civil War pbem opponent; told me one of the most detailed wargame ever created even though I first think it is American interest thing -Pacific War- but it turned out quite good but still unplayable for me -1 day a turn- I'm afraid.

For Matrix Games I hope War in The East 2 will be success. My earlier pbem games in the first War in The East Romania become Soviet in 1942. These are very detailed games to master. New Warplan Pacific could be another choice if you are not willing to put much time.

I would first download the manual (it's free), as that will probably sell you or not.

https://ftp.matrixgames.com/pub/WarInTheEast2/War%20in%20the%20East%202%20EBOOK.pdf

I admit I hesitated at first, but there were a number of personal reasons I decided to get the game, which the OP doesn't care about.

Crazy, but I purchased WitE and WitW on release and am just getting started with the latter one. The editor is currently missing some options that are important to me, but will be included in a patch.

WitE2 is the definitive Eastern Front game that will be patched and modded until I meet my Maker. And if the OP can handle WitP:AE, this game should be a "breeze" in terms of UI. Not that it is simpler - there is much more depth and richness, imo, than WitP:AE - but you can start pushing around counters and playing the game immediately.

Going to purchase WarPlan Pacific now. With Matrix, I just can't help myself!

Best wishes to all.

The game looks amazing but the days of me absorbing ASL-like rulebooks (and all that in-game spreadsheet detail!) are over. Currently enjoying Barbarossa in the Unity of Command II engine - just enough detail/complexity/decision making and a wicked AI.

Nope. There are these UFOs outside and he wants either a better look or to try and get them.

That is why my grandfather told me you want a fall kitten instead of a spring kitten - at least on a farm. Although the vet that I take them to did not know that.
