Turn 11 Beginning of Turn

Southern Front Sea of Azoz

Losses across the board seem to have lowered "substantially". Either because of the leader changes or something in the program got switched from last turn. Will keep an eye on this in the future games. Or the Germans are just grinding too hard and not rotating their troops. Or my addition of Artillery & more Reserve activation.(Plus don't put LOW ToE and Low Morale units in reserve mode, they can route too as was seen with Bobo units in my other AAR) Could be a plethora of things but here in the south it was noted of a lot less casualties to Soviet units.

Turn 10 Beginning of Turn

Dnep Area (Real time update)

Germans grinding but not moving units here. Hard to get across a major river with Soviets close. I am more than happy to show next time in one of my games.

I have more reserves that shown up around Stalino. I should be able to hold this area of the map now with what I see in front of me. May chance recon if I don't account for most of the German PZ/Moto.

Kharkov

Reinforced this area with leadership and artillery. Much better performance and a great deal less losses.

Kursk Area

Still holding but getting pushed :(

Will have to scrounge units for here after I fix the Reserve front area first.

Orel Area

Reserve Front just about gets blown totally away this turn. At least it feels that way. I have a few reserves for here but don't know if it is enough. Will have to see.

Divisions in the Kalinin Forest been molested badly. That area needs help but can wait because of terrain.

Still only two bombing groups on the map. All the rest are fighters & Fighter-bombers and transports. Not ready to commit my bombers.

Turn 11

Ground Losses

As you can see the difference from last turn to this turn in loss ratio. That is substantial and I really don't believe this was because of just the leader changes and artillery addition.

Interesting

The North/South defense, highlighted in orange, is a very dangerous defense if you have nothing in the blue hex. With two 22 point MP Cav there I can get in the backfield pretty easily. But I am not close enough to a dual rail for me to chance this this turn.

There is a unit to the SE that is hidden since I tried to ZoC convert the hex SW of the 1=3 armor Division.

Lets look at the German overall stats by counter color.

First lets look at supply.

All in RED. hmmmmm. Could be the contributing factor why less casualties and I am inflicting more. That makes sense now.

You really don't want to be in the red for supply.

Supply priority of the Germans. I really shouldn't be seeing this but oh well. Since it could be a tell-tell sign of things. But oh well I will use it.

CPP level

Based on all of these screenshots I can determine how much of a defense I need based on this information. What did you gather from the screenshots?

I do this on every single section of the map. I am sure everyone else does the same thing.

Also when I know where all the PZ & Moto are at I don't really have to have a very deep defense when I can read this information. When you use your PZ & Moto as a threat it will put some Soviets on edge. Also there is very little to no recon now so the Germans can really play cat and mouse with their PZ's & Moto.

Exactly. You should not be able to see this at all in my book. I am sure someone will let us know but to be able to read all this I can really nail down what I need to do. I wouldn't let any of this to be seen for the other side really.

You can get the different colored indicators from the drop down menu here. You have a whole bunch to choose from which can be very beneficial.

Fuel has been chosen for this screenshot from an opening German turn. Soviets have the same icons of course.

Soft factor visibility depends on detection level. See #378, the 6=12 division has a DL where you can see everything but soft factors. Not sure if it's too easy to see them at the moment?

I think the soft factor visibility has some level of uncertainty, similar to enemy CV levels.

AP Points saved to date, 120

What is your reason for saving the AP rather than switching generals earlier? Is it simply to lower the random chance of the general getting shot by Stalin, wounded, etc, or getting a reduced rating from having too many losses, or anything else I am missing?

If you replace Soviet leaders too soon then you increase the chance of losing the leader if the HQ is overrun by the Axis.

Up to turn 10 I saw "no difference" after having changed leaders at all. Granted with poor leaders you will lose more men and fail more rolls. But in the strategic long run of things it seemed to have made little to no difference. It is more important having the proper chain of command I found to stack your rolls so if one misses the next may catch the failure. Thus I saved my points. For my latest game as Soviets I am not spending my points until I know the front is stable. I did the same thing here spending all 120 points because I know, based on the play so far by my opponent, that I can hold the front. Unless of course the situation changes, i.e. better supply, resting of the PZs/Moto, deep penetration. Everyone has their style ;-P

This is SOOOOOOOOOO true in WITE2. The wind blows wrong and a displaced HQ will have a leader loss.
