Dec 7th 1941 my moves One thing that shocked people at the time of WWII was how quickly the Japanese moved, how effective they were when they moved, and how many places they were able to strike at once. The professionals had little doubt that the Japanese would attack, they knew they were coming, but they figured the attacks would not be effective and would be few in number. It was a shock to them and after writing the results and overlooking things I understand why they felt as they did. I almost don't know where to start. India/UK. I move the CA Cornwall to the Indian Convoy route to provide some more convoy protection. I activate all India units in Calcutta or east of it and order the Indian 14th division south torwards Rangoon. I place them and the Indian 2nd Bde on priority resupply. Wavell and Giffard HQ's begin moving torward Rangoon and the India 1st IAF is placed in Chittagong on priority resupply. Dutch/Netherlands East Indies With no production there is little I can do here. The Dutch CA De Ruter moves to Colombo. I was hoping to move the DEI air force out to Austrialia, but the game doesn't let me, which is correct since I doubt they would have just left. Australia The Aussie 112th Garrison, at Port Moresby, goes active and is given supply priority. Without oil the Aus 1st RAAF is stuck in Syndey. The Aus 2nd Corp is ordered from Melbourne to Townsville by rail along with the Austrailan Command HQ. I was going to move the Aus CA Canberra, but it needs repair so I leave it in Sydney. American West Coast. All units go on Garrison since until I get transports there is nothing they can do. USA SS (Submarine) Grayling moves out to begin raiding. USA DD 17th and DD 14th move to go to Austrailia. USA DD 27th moves to help escort South Pacific convoys. USA DD 18th rebases to Los Angles in preparation to relieve the DD 27th. Pearl Harbor. I am shocked to find that the Japanese Pearl Harbor Strike force still off the coast of Hawaii. I immediately set out to attack it. I form Task Force 1. It includes the CV Lexington, CV Enterprise, BB Tennessee, CA Salt Lake City, CA San Francisco, 12th CL/DD, 3rd DD, and 13th DD. The Japanese react (interdiction which I should have expected, but did not) and battle ensues. The Japanese loose 3 air and take heavy damage to the CA Tone. The Americans loose, CV Lexington, CV Enterprise, BB Tennessee, CA Salt Lake City, CA San Francisco, and heavy damage to the 12th CL/DD and 3rd DD. Northern China Most Chinese units hold their place and units in contact with the Japanese get priority in resupply. Southern China I move the Chinese 2nd Army torwards the front, but it cannot move far enough so I place the Chinese 1st Calvary north of Changsha. It is little more than a speed bump, but hopefully it can buy some time. The Chinese 17th Army holding Changsha is given supply priority and told to hold at all cost. The Chinese 22nd Army is ordered to retreat from the supply city Chuhsien. This gives the Japanese an important city, but the Army would have been encircled soon enough and this saves them for later combat. The Phillipines The SS SkipJack and SS Pike both escape Manilla and take up convoy raiding on the South China Sea route. I want to move the USA USAFFE air group, but am unable. I think about attacking with it, but put it on support and hope it can last the turn.
