When I finish my next work project, I may treat myself to this little gem. But first, please advise:
1. Is there a single screen to track supply/ oil use? That seems like it could be overwhelming for a theater commander to have to track on paper.
2. What about tracking and planning arrivals of new units?
3. How does land-based air attacking naval units and airfields do? Do carrier air wings defend their ship AND attack?
4. How do you build airfields and ports? Does the US have the ability to do so quickly?
5. How long is each turn?
6. How does it deal with multi-turn one-hex land battles (Makin, Tarawa, presumably Peleliu and Biak, for example)?
7. Do supply and interdiction allow bypassing enemy strongholds as happened in reality? (Such as in the Admiralties or along the north coast of New Guinea?)

1. On your production screen you see how much you produce, what your stockpile is, and how much you used (upkeep) last turn. From that you know if you have enough oil as it is a simple calculation. Each unit shows you how much oil they require BEFORE you move in its stats.

2. There is a single deploy screen with tabs for each nation. Go to the US tab, for instance, and it will list what is coming in and what date it is coming. The only headache I have seen is sometimes you have to switch from the production screen to the deployment screen to see when something is coming. However, when you start to click what you want to produce it tells you how many you have already in production and what date the current item will deploy if you do produce it.

3. CV air wings defend and attack. CV air wings can attack target. During your opponents turn if your fleet can be set to Raider, avoid combat in which case it will do nothing, or Fleet Mode. If in Fleet Mode your CVs will react automatically and engage in carrier battles if it can intercept enemy fleets. Land Based air is just as deadly as in real life. Land base bombers can be, doesn't have to be, set to automatically intercept naval fleets. They can be set to automatically do supply interdiction within their range. Fighters, as long as they are 50% and above in strength will automatically escort bombers and intercept enemy air units.

4. Cannot build or upgrade ports at this time. Something I would like to see in the game. Airfields are in the places you think they would be and are aplenty. If however you want to build one you build it in production then have a land unit with engineer place it.

5. Two Week. Japan has DEC 7th turn. Then you have DEC 7th turn. Japan has DEC 21st turn then you have DEC 21st turn.

6. Haven't got that far yet. Remember turns are two weeks long. Most of thee battles over the small islands were effectively done in less than two weeks. Tarawa, for instance only took a couple of days. As far as I can tell you either attack and dislodge the enemy or you are still on transports.

7. Yes. This game does an outstanding job of getting the supply convoy thing right. You can naval or air interdict supply convoys. Single hex islands are easy to blockade and even larger island hex are not hard to blockade.

I would second this. The only thing that comes close to this is an actual board game. For computer games, other than the monster War in the Pacific (WiTP) this is it.

If World in Flames ever gets an AI and automates some of its book keeping it might give Warplane Pacific a run for its money, otherwise this is it.

PS, buy the game so the creator can make a single Global game. :)
