ORIGINAL: DD696 I returned from Texas last Tuesday evening at 0006 am. My brother (not a blood brother, but a step brother with whom we became strong brothers over the last 60 years), anyway, he was given 30 days to live. Cancer, brain, lungs and bone. He let me know, and 3 days later I was there with him to provide daytime hospice care in Paris, Texas, for 12-15 hours a day. After 16 days he died during the night when one of his sons had night time duty. It was, no Bob, no more. I had to do things I never thought I would ever do - cleaning wounds from which the hip bone was exposed. The hospice nurse gave me the courage to do these things. When I saw that bone while turning him with her I cried. She said that's what we expect. Grab that wet wipe and help me clean the wound. I did. She said the right thing to me and I did what was required. Thank you, hospice nurse. Bob died. No Bob, no more. I went to McKinney to visit a daughter and grand kids for a week. I have lost 3 younger than I. It hurts. Oh man, that's hard. I've never seen anything like you went through. Lost many loved ones in the last few years, but never saw beneath their skin. God bless you sir.
