A couple of issues ago, Wired magazine dedicated a whole issue to a WWIII scenario. I thought is was very well done.

I have no experience moding or even playing CMO, so I cannot do it myself even though I would learn the game to play it. I suggest that this mod based on the starting point outlined in the story would be a smash hit. It would be the holy grail of CMO mods and you name would forever be enshrined in the CMO hall of fame.

Kidding aside it would be a very valuable mod for serious players and the military.

The issue is Feb 2021 of Wired Magazine and the entire issue is a novel 2034 A History of the Next World War. The authors are Elliot Ackerman
and Admiral James Stavridis.

I read the Wired story (at least the first 4 parts, didn't know there were 6), with a similar thought. Unfortunately the battle scene that I remember wouldn't make for much of a scenario.

IIRC there was a Chinese fleet, including an aircraft carrier, literally surrounding 3x DDG-51s all in visual range. Like a classic American wagon train western movie, when I read that bit I almost choked.

I've met Stavridis and doubt he had much to do with writing that part for sure.

Although the book seems like a great read and is on my list, I'm not sure there are too many scenarios in it.

I've finished the book (spoilers ahead):

As the PRC have found a way to disable pretty much all US electronics, it'd probably make for a rather one sided affair in CMO.
You're going to pretty much EMP the entire US fleet, or at least have them as "NO COMMS" to replicate that in game which will make them sitting ducks.
Even Gunner's Fury scenarios where you're designed to lose aren't THAT sadistic.

Always room for improvement
