Yeah I know, I’m sorry for that. I worked on them and they were smaller on my pc, but you can’t preview images here. After I posted I thought “oh no!”

I was hoping my book would get here for the weekend... it did. Still have not heard from customer support. It looks like it got crunched in a sorting machine sideways. It happened before it left the UK, and they wrapped it with bubble wrap and knew it was badly damaged. Why did they not send it back to Slitherine?!

But on topic, yea that's terrible and I've heard/seen similar stories from other people but yours are the worst. I don't believe I chose Royal Mail but the other option, but the packaging was basically completely ripped off by the time it landed on my doorstep and thankfully the bubblewrap protected it from any noticeable dings. You should definitely get another manual free of charge, though, that's unacceptable.

You were surely fortunate the book was undamaged. I don’t feel like waiting several more weeks for it again. I saw that the next shipment won’t arrive for shipping until the end of May! Then another 5-20 days for shipping. No thanks, I’m moving on.

This does not bode well for me I got a email on the 30th April saying my book / game has been sent out and I went through royal mail and I live in Australia.

God knows how it will look when it finally gets here because its the 15th May today and I still don't have it.

The email said 5 - 20 days, I have a bad feeling about this.

The issue is the book is NOT packaged in a box, but shipped a soft padded envelop type thing, and is not up to the shipping demands, particularly trans-Atlantic. My manual was also a little roughed up. Why it was not shipped in a box like a box you would expect if you ordered from say Amazon is beyond me, other than $$$, and I would have GLADLY paid the little bit extra to protect my manual if given the option.

Your kidding they have sent a over seas package in a envelope, that is a joke considering the money its costing to get it shipped out.

Well i certainly dont see much hope of it coming in good condition.

You should definitely contact the matrix/slitherine support. royal mail packages are covered up to 50 pounds. :-)

Considering it looks like every package they throw from about 100 feet above into a shipping container, probably not good.

That's a pretty good description of how my book looks. It was NOT in a box, and coming from so far away it should have been. It cost plenty for shipping too. If the rest of physical shipments come from the UK, I'm done with them. And I think I know the answer to that.

I don't want to get too negative here, as there are some very good things about Slitherine that I highly appreciate. They have the best tooltips of any dev I have ever seen, and I am a tooltip lover. Not too fond of their shipping though...

Yea I think its more than fair to say given the price of the manual + shipping they should've used a cardboard box that would've cost $1-$2 per in bulk. If they want to up charge for it then that's fine, too. But an envelope over these distances is not acceptable.

Don't worry, the shipping companies would find a way to damage it in a box, too. I used to work in the parts department of a BMW dealership in Arizona. Sometimes we'd have to get parts rush shipped via Fedex from Germany. I'd say a solid 10% of those parts arrived damaged - and BMW does not skimp on packaging for its parts, they use the nicest heavy-duty cardboard boxes I've ever seen, with plenty of packaging material inside. And every time, the same song-and-dance routine happened - Fedex: "it was in good condition when we delivered it, you must have damaged it." Us: "no, there were literally holes in the box when you delivered it." Fedex: "our records don't show any damage, so we'll have to investigate before we can pay an insurance claim." Eventually we had to have one of us stand around with a camera while the Fedex truck was unloading. Which didn't actually help; they started saying they'd received the packages damaged instead.

Sure but it'd at least have a better shot than an envelope.

Yeah. So what's the other choice, don't use a box and keep using flimsy bubble wrap in an envelope? That's how mine came. The odds have to be better with a box, even though firms like FedEx are frigging liars. FedEx used to be pretty good, they suck now here in my city. UPS now literally throws our boxes over the front gate now. The best lately has actually been the USPS, which has changed for the better. They are the ones that lovingly laid my book right at our front door. They saw it had been trashed.

Received my copy here in New Zealand 2 weeks ago. The exterior was ripped and full of black marks. BUT, the book itself is in pristine condition. The reason being that it had two layers of bubble wrap. I have received hundreds of books from other countries over the years, and bubble wrap has always been the saviour, regardless of the external condition.

The best shipped to us has been bubble wrap in a tight fitting box with no room to slide around. Seldom has there been an item ruined, unless it's glass.

Update: We just got a Sunday delivery from Amazon and I watched her enter the gate (50' from our front door, 15' from street) and dropped the package, then took a picture of it. So we go online and read the delivery statement and it says the package was delivered at the front door. Wow. Must be the norm now to be a liar.

My book arrived damaged. It was shipped in a cheap envelop and thin bubble wrap. It should have been shipped in a box. I contacted Support including pictures but they never replied. Impressive game but a waste of my money for the book. I would like a refund for the book. If Support can't be bothered with responding I will contact the bank to reverse the charge.

I’ve sent to both support addresses, Matrix and Slitherine with no reply. Two times they got sent back with a network error. Fun.

Update: Erik is helping me, and I needed to wait at least a couple days before expecting a reply. He's helped me many times through the years. Thanks Erik.
