Wow cool! Nice idea.

Ok Ras Banas/Bernice Airfield is a new Egyptian base and probably more favorable for this. I've added a copy of my Egypt imports. It has this base as well a bunch that are being used by Egypt and the UAE against Libya. Think I added naval bases at one point too.

UAE is an ally and has tankers (A.300-200 MRTT #4605) UAE air and naval forces based in Eritrea during Yemen but recently left. Given the story, it wouldn't be unreasonable for them to return or base out of Bernice. Especially against their perennial enemy Ethiopia.

Hope this helps!

Mike

Hey Mike I had Ras Banas/Bernice Airfield in my original version but took it out as range and refueling were an issue. That's why I reluctantly added the IDF tankers.

I love the idea of using UAE Tankers!!!!!! If I use UAE Tankers then, yes, I could shift units back to Ras Banas/Bernice Airfield. BTW that looks like a nice base on Google Earth!

I just fixed the Egyptian scoring, I accidently reset the scoring when clearing the expenditures during a test run in the scenario editor.

I can't believe a Dam is only 200 Damage Points? Really? So what I am doing is putting four dams (dam sections) into a single dam unit (Group) and am gong to add some facilities as well for targets.

This is updated based on Mike's suggestions above AND totally revamped the dam facilities to make it more realistic/challenging. Further update below...

Dam Busters, 2021

Al "Beirutdude" Sandrik

The Time Is: 1 June, 2021, 03:30 Zulu/04:30 Cairo Time

The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), Ethiopia

Playable as Egypt Only

24 Hours Duration

Background: In 2011 Ethiopia began construction of a dam across the Blue Nile River, near where it enters into The Sudan. The project has now approached completion and the reservoir (not indicated on the C:MO Maps) is being filled. Egypt and Ethiopia have exchanged words and diplomatic discussions over the pace of the operation to fill the dam. At times Egypt has expressed the possibility of taking military action to destroy the dam site. Ethiopia has responded with warming ties to the People’s Republic of China (PRC), and the acquisition of an HQ-16 SAM system. This scenario postulates that in a more heated environment the PRC responds with diplomatic & military support.

Mission: The Egyptian Defense Ministry has approached the Saudi's and UAE for support and both have agreed to covertly assist Egyptian Air Force operations with tanker operations over the Sudan. Your mission is to strike the dam site with minimal losses using the Egyptian assets operating from Ras Banas/Bernice Airfield, in the southern portion of the county.

Notes: I gave you a 24-hour period beginning at sunrise June 1st to conduct your operations. When you conduct it during this operational cycle is your choice. Day or night, up to you.

You choose your load outs.

Scoring: 0 points = Disaster and 2,400 a Triumph

Each dam section is worth 300 points. A total of four dam sections are targetable.

All other facilities, including the bridge downstream, are worth +100 VPs

Oh yes, avoid losses, each downed aircraft will cost you 100 VPs.

Built under C:MO Build 1147.14 Database DB3000 v487

.INI and Delta Files are provided for deep rebuilds.

About a year ago I tried is myself with Rafale's and did some researching than. Now I see your scenario and did some searching on Twitter and Google again, just to present you with some ideas/ options:

Ethiopia, allegedly bought SA-22 Pantsirs to protect the dam.

Sat photos:

But also that they are put out of action, because of the weather, no kidding!
“Materials have appeared on the Internet claiming that the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and cannon systems have been put out of action in Ethiopia. The reports say that two Russian-made Pantsir-C1 vehicles "were disabled by lightning strikes." At the same time, it is noted that the "Shells" of the Armed Forces of Ethiopia were located in the area of the "Khidas" ("An-Nahda") hydroelectric power station on the Blue Nile. No additional information is provided ", - reports the Russian information publication Military Review.

BLAST33,

THANKS!!!

The SA-22 Pantsirs are in there, but I didn't know about the lightning strikes. For the scenario going to assume they've been repaired. That may be a bad assumption, but they make the scenario a bit more interesting.

I didn't have the SA-2/SA-3 systems but will add them. There is another interesting SAM unit in there that was a "reasonable(????)" assumption given the way things are going in that part of the world but not in Ethiopia's OOB.

Thanks for the input!!!!!

Updated, based on BLAST33's input/Advice, further updates below...

1. SA-2/3s have been added with associated radars.
2. Sa-22/Pantsir's have been retained.

Nice one!

Much success with SCALP shooting but got careless delivering Hammers and lost 3 Rafale. HQ-9A definitely the star of that show. Bagged the 3 Rafales + 24 Hammer bombs. Used F-16's as strickly CAP. Lots learned on my side.

My only advice is maybe using the exclusion zone to make unknown aircraft hostile by some reference point defined range so player's can't exploit the unfriendly posture to fly right over the target giving defenses far less time to respond.

Thanks!

Mike

Done,

1. Changed initial posture for both sides to "Neutral."
2. Added two Exclusion Zones around the Dam one "unfriendly" and an inner/nested one for "Hostile."
3. Fixed the alert aircraft mission.
4. Very minor fixes to an events (you wouldn't event have noticed the issue).

Will include these tweaks next time I post it

I played through the Feb. 24-25th version yesterday. A good scenario to practice tanker ops. I suck at that. I was able to utilize the unlimited number of SCALP's and Hammer's to attack more or less from safe distances. The SCALP's took out the dam while the Hammers' got several of the buildings... mostly turbine and generators. The F-16's were loaded with Paveways, but I RTB'd them as they weren't needed in the end.

Perhaps limit the munitions at the base? And lastly maybe supply one UAV for RECON. Egypt has (according to the DB) CCP supplied drones. I would think an operation like this one would have some initial RECON via UAV or SOF in the area.

Nice scenario and I'm glad you decided to stick around for a while.

Sure...

1. Removed the F-16s they were over kill anyway.
2. Removed the Saudi Tankers.
3. Added 4 UAVs but only ATGM loadouts for 2 of them
4. Limited the Load outs
5. Switched the Ethiopian AAW missions a bit and adjusted hoping they will be more aggressive.

I'm catching less is more these days. The scenarios I do on the fly with limited assets seem to be the most popular!

I knew this, and tried to contain myself but I escaped!

+1 for this.
Nice one, very easy with SCALPs, but I'll try with other loadouts and tankers, just to practice more.
