I just finished my first 1942 campaign as Allies. Here is the final VP screen. The USA had conquered all the Pacific VP locations: Rabaul, Truk, the Philippines, Okinawa, Guam, Saipan, Kwajalein, Iwo Jima. The USA only lost 2 CVs and 4 BBs. Therefore it deserved a 'Individual Major Victory'. The UK/Indians had conquered Burma, Thailand, all Indochina including Saigon and Haiphong, Malaya including Singapore, Sarawak and Tarakan in Borneo, most of Sumatra including the oil fields. They lost no capital ships. However, they were awarded a 'Individual Worse than Historical Result'. Obviously the UK/India performed much better in my game than historical. Why were they not awarded a 'Individual Major Victory' or 'Better than Historical Result'? The Chinese had reconquered all of China except for Canton, Hong Kong, Tianjin and Peking (they were adjacent to all these remaining cities). However, they were awarded a 'Individual Worse than Historical Result'. Obviously the Chinese performed much better in my game than historical. Why were they not awarded a 'Individual Major Victory' or 'Better than Historical Result'? The Japanese had lost all VP cities except Harbin, Hong Kong, Hiroshima (nuked), Osaka, Yakohama and Tokyo. The US had conquered all Japan south of Hiroshima, Kochi and all Japan north of Niigata. Therefore it make sense that they scored a 'Individual Worse than Historical Result' The Soviet Union had invaded Manchuria when permitted, but were only allowed two turns before the game ended. They were adjacent to Harbin and had overrun part of Korea at game end. Therefore it makes sense that they scored a 'Individual Historical Result'
