I played CMANO some years ago and just purchased CMO. While playing Strike Tutorial 3, I have come across problems getting aircraft to obey manual altitude overrides at strike mission waypoints. The attached save file provides one example, with a single strike mission (Fox65) attacking a runway. The aircraft do not obey the altitude overrides at three waypoints:

1. At waypoint 2, I've ordered the mission to climb to 12000 ft ASL. When the aircraft reach this waypoint, the F2 display for a brief instant shows a desired altitude of 12000 ft, but this changes almost immediately to 8000 ft ASL, which is the altitude override at waypoint 3. Why are the aircraft ignoring the waypoint 2 orders and using the waypoint 3 (which is 19 nm away) orders instead?

2. At waypoint 4, the altitude override is set to 1000 ft AGL. Once the aircraft reach this waypoint, they drop to 400 ft AGL instead of 1000 ft. The F2 window shows a desired altitude of 1000 ft AGL and a current altitude of 400 ft AGL. Why are the aircraft flying lower than ordered?

3. At waypoint 7, the aircraft are ordered to climb back to 12000 ft ASL. Instead, they climb to 13562 ft ASL, which is the sum of the requested altitude (12000 ft) and the terrain elevation at waypoint 7 (1562 ft). This appears to be a bug related to switching from AGL to ASL orders.

Note that the enemy doesn't shoot back in this tutorial, so there is no automatic evasion. I haven't found similar problems mentioned in the forums. Am I perhaps misunderstanding something about the waypoint orders? The scenario was run with Command 1.03 build 1147.23.

About 10 lines down from your post is a thread on it.

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=5028997

I think that covers it.

I saw that thread, but it doesn't appear to fit my case. Waypoints 2 and 7 are definitely not on the "final run" to target. Waypoint 4 is the ingress waypoint, which is also questionable as the "final run" when the IP (waypoint 5) is between it and the target. Also, that thread states that the "final run" logic was fixed in the next update as of 3 June 2021. The version I am using was released back on 8 May, before that fix existed.

My point was to upgrade to the new version. Although, it might be the one after that. Not saying it fixed it, but they are obviously working altitudes on missions.

I would expect the devs to suggest upgrading to the official 25 verison before taking a hard look.

I upgraded to build 1147.25, and this had no effect on the altitude changes described in my original post.

After some further tests, it appears build 1147.25 may have fixed one of the three altitude problems I encountered. The save file I attached to my original post was created with build 1147.23, which means the strike path and associated waypoints in that file were created by the build 23 auto-planner. The altitude problems I mentioned at waypoints 2, 4, and 7 will occur with that save file whether it is run in build 23 or 25.

If I recreate a similar runway strike from scratch using the build 25 auto-planner (with the same altitude overrides at the strike waypoints), the problem at waypoint 4 disappears; the aircraft descend to 1000 ft AGL as ordered. However, build 25 has no effect on the altitude problems I described at waypoints 2 and 7.

I general, that's why you should upgrade when you have a problem. You never know what got looked at. And its why you should also post the build number.
