I think the AI is a bit too passive in defence, it usually allows its defence to be destroyed piecemeal while units further back or on the flanks sit tight and do nothing. They don't move up to reinforce the front line units being attacked, it doesn't pull back frontline units to retreat to the safety of a second line, and if there are units that the attacking force bypasses, those units don't try to threaten the flanks or retreat in order to bolster defences further back. It just mainly keeps all its units stationary and never seems to attempt to move them.
