i have a few questions. but first i'll start with a little about me. i recently purchased this game a few months ago. have had a few goes at the AI and found it a bit lacking. based on my limited research this game seems to be best played vs other people. i'm not the kind of person that would normally want to play games like this vs other people as my schedule changes often and drastically. also, it would seem that a PBEM game would take a while to finish. seems like a multi year commitment. i'm not sure i can commit that much time to a game.
further more, how are the game options set up?
do we use the "beta" that i downloaded from the forums?
who decides who plays what side?
what scenario do we play?
any house rules?

i'm sure i have more questions. but, i think i've asked enough.

Thanks,
Joe

A campaign game will last a long time regardless of how few or many turns done per day.
Players agree to any "house rules" prior to starting a game.
Players agree to use a beta, stock, or mod before starting a game.
Players agree to who plays what side before starting a game.
Players agree to the scenario before starting a game.
See "house rules" above.
You'd probably be best served trying some of the short scenarios before jumping into a campaign.
Good luck.

i am certainly interesting in finding someone to play against. i have never played a PBEM game so i will probably need some assistance getting it going. i am willing to play either side. i can probably do atleast one turn a day (except weekends, i can probably do atleast two turns a day). if that is too fast paced, i can do less. as for how many years/months i can go at this. i know this will be a long campaign. i know it will take years to complete but i think i'll give it my all to do so. this game is probably worth it.

I had to look up the word "reductive". and yes, i can see your point. lifestyle could be more accurate as opposed to game.

PBEM is what really makes this product shine. You will tire quickly of AI.

In the section of the forum called "Opponents Wanted", I presume there will be information there about how to set up to exchange emails and use your passwords. As I understand it most players make a separate install for the PBEM game so they can still use the initial install as is.

If you are not sure about your ability to play regularly and for a couple of years at least, there are scenarios like IRONMAN (in three levels of difficulty) which give the AI some extra tools and make give you a challenge. Some of the players here can tell you more about these more difficult scenarios.

In addition, for the stock scenarios there is a mod that changes the original scripts (which you did not find challenging) for some that are less predictable. I have not installed those yet because I am in mid-game, so other forumites will have to tell you where to get them.
