You triggered a memory Pax. While watching the film, Chris (the son who started this entire thread) stared at Oddball and looked at me. He said "is THAT President Snow??!!" Christopher knows Donald Sutherland from the Mockingjay movies. Nearly 50 years of time separates those films from Kelly's Heroes but it made one heck of a connection with the near 15 year-old boy.

Look, you miscreants, I've never left this forum, lurking almost daily. I am compiling dossiers on each of you, against the day that you might be nominated for a seat on the Supreme Court. I'm pretty sure I already have enough to stop Chickenboy's candidacy. Heck, he might not can even leave his house these days.

As for Kelly's Heroes, I've said my piece. That illegitimate movie's groovy vibe is anathema to reputable historians and lovers of the arts. If I'm in the mood for Clint Eastwood and accurate history, I'll turn to Where Eagles Dare, thank you.

On a personal note, a month ago I did a long, solo backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail in Virginia. I did 100 miles in six days, which is traveling, given my age. On the second day, May 12, it snowed and sleeted all morning. That was unexpected. But I pushed too hard for too long, so that I was never more ready to get off the trial and return home. On the afternoon of the sixth day, as I made my way down from the Dragons Tooth near Catawba, Virginia, even the lovely songs of the scarlet tanager and ovenbird became detestable noise, physically and mentally oppressive. When spring birdsong becomes oppressive it's time to go home.

I hope you all are well.

This reminds me of a certain movie haha.

Bob Crane in Hogan's Heroes was pretty good for a laugh back in the day.

Did you know that Hogan (Bob Crane) was sleeping (among other things!) with Colonel Klink's secretary?

Yeah, but he was a real hound dog, sleeping with whatever. Could definitely have been what got him killed.

Like I say, guns don't kill people, husbands that come home early do.

As corny as Hogan's Heroes was/is, liked watching it. 'I know nothing'

The home invasion death or whatever it was - tough way to go. But reminds me of how Marion Carl left us. Though we know more about his exit - fighting a home invasion.

Commonly known as the 'Schultz defense'.

Its still on around here on one of the cable channels that shows old shows. I watch it sometimes. Still ridiculous, still funny.

Now this one's a bit different. Thought it was totally made up when I first saw it back in the day. Mt. La Defensa, pure Hollywood muck.

Yeah, well the joke was on me. It was real. I'm sure Hollywood still took its license, but the battle did actually happen. Add to that the unit was in AH's game Anzio.

Not only that, the unit was in the Aleutians - it invaded Kiska.
