Is there an optimum altitude to use other than the general 9000 feet to fly which will avoid as much flak as possible?

Thanks

It depends on the air mission. Most air missions automatically change altitude in the mission hex to the optimal altitude for the mission.

My personal settings are:

Ground Support at 9000.

Ground Attack at 10000.

Bomb City at 18000.

Recon at 17000.

Air Superiority at 12000.

Naval Patrol at 10000.

From what I remember reading in the WitW forums, above 20000 feet to avoid flak, but dive bombers need to be under 10000 feet to attack.

Don't know if there are numbers in the editor for the aircraft, or if this is part of the 'under the hood' that we just guess at.

You can also change the flight path when you have the air directive open by clicking on the points on the path and dragging them.
You can have different ingress and egress routes.
